Chapter 45: Astronomy Tower
"But the way you smile does it for me. It's so sweet, knowing that you love me."
Noelle's Perspective
I dreamt of Sebastian Sallow one foggy morning. It was very difficult to explain how the dream really went, but it was able to locate the weakest pits of my subconscious, making me see my perspective of him differently.
No, it wasn't a sexual dream state or a sunshine and rainbows. All I knew was that when I woke up that specific day, in my Gryffindor dormitory and rolled in my pillow, my brain altered.
It distracted me terribly. It'd been good classes weren't in session yet, but when I met up with Poppy to help her with some animal caretaking before breakfast, my head space had been somewhere else.
"Elle?"
My hand repeatedly kept petting the Hippogriff. I lost track of time by how many times I petted her that when I heard Poppy's voice, Highwing's eyes were closed as she bent toward me.
"Huh? What?"
Poppy's eyes squinted, and her head tilted a little, making her short hair wave with her. "I asked, what's on your mind?"
I brought my hand up, finishing the brushing on the beast, and brought it to my side. I bit the inside of my lip. Did I really want to tell her? Or was I really ashamed to admit my truth to one of my only good friends?
My view was on the fresh green grass below and I thought to myself while scrunching my nose. "Not much. I just...I had a weird dream this morning. It's been stuck in my head since."
"Weird?" She asked at the word usage then she threw a small giggle. "Elle, I think everyone's dreams are weird every night. Especially the...'you never know what to expect' kind."
"Yeah, I know, I know," I agreed, but I slowly began to notice how my fingers nibbled on themselves from the fidgeting and I hesitated.
"It got to you, didn't it?" Poppy guessed, reading my stance. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
I reddened from the exposure she brought. I knew I trusted Poppy Sweeting, but something about opening up felt humiliating now, as if bringing Sebastian Sallow was now something obsessive from me.
"It was about Sebastian," I confessed.
I'd predicted Poppy would raise a brow and not have any surprised reaction to it. "Oh. S-Sebastian?"
I nodded.
"Ah, I don't think it's unusual to have weird dreams about your boyfriend, Elle." She laughed at me, nicely. "That sounds pretty...normal for someone you like."
