THE PUNISHER WAS making Elena's life so much harder. Some people would say that she'd had it easy, that everything was handed to her on a silver platter, but just because her parents were granted with riches didn't mean that they'd been the best... parents. They hadn't taught her how to handle certain things, and although none of them could predict the case at hand, Elena couldn't help but wish they'd taught her just a few more essential life skills.
She had been utterly swamped in files. In the short time that she'd been brought onto the Punisher case, she was sure that she had seen more photos of dead, brutalised bodies than she had photos of her own family. She was sick and tired of it, but she supposed that she was lucky she didn't have any nightmares of the bloody corpses.
And on top of that, Elliot Grote was dead.
Murdered by the Punisher the night that he was meant to be set free. Elena didn't really care for the man, but it seemed cruel for fate to mess with him like that. Whilst Reyes and Blake had worked more closely with Grote and Nelson & Murdock, Elena had been tasked with finding out the Punisher's identity and working alongside the intelligence team. Their findings had led to giving the mysterious figure a name; Frank Castle.
There wasn't much on the man, however. Elena had found out that he was ex-military, which definitely made sense. Early reports of the murders had compared them to an army's doing. Although she couldn't find out which part of the army he served in. She also knew that he was a father, with two young children: deceased. She'd given the task to one of her colleagues to find out what happened to them. She knew that she'd just think of her sister, and she didn't need those worries swirling around in her head.
Today, however, Elena's worries had turned to frustrations and – in all honesty – disbelief. Apparently, Karen Page had stopped by the office last night whilst Elena was on her way home. But according to Blake Tower, it wasn't Elena that Karen had stopped by to see. Instead of having a friendly chat or catch up, Karen Page had essentially blackmailed Blake Tower into handing over files on the Punisher. The files Elena had been working on. To say that she was annoyed was an understatement.
