Waiting, Jungkook finds, is always the worst part.

He checks his watch for the nth time and sighs, tapping his foot. Him and Taehyung are seated just outside a local noodle place he frequents; the name of the place, written in kanji, has always eluded him.

Taehyung begins tapping his foot too. Irritation builds within him, but he doesn't quite know why.

Lately, things have been... tense, between the two. Jungkook wonders if he's the only one who's noticed.

"So," he starts, in an effort to make conversation. "How've things been going lately?"

Their last phone call had been a little less than two weeks ago. The only time they've actually talked to each other has been in group chats—Jungkook feels a little like Tae is slipping through his fingers.

"Good," comes the awkward reply, and Taehyung looks like he's about to add something else, but gets distracted by something behind Jungkook. The elder's cheeks flush a light pink, and he begins waving to someone Jungkook can't see.
