from the second she was born she'd been pushed aside watching as her birth mom chased her next high rather than play dolls with her— (not that she had any toys to do so anyway) — the cycle continued when she was thrown into the foster system, often left to her own devices. Evelyn quickly concluded she was the problem

In the morning as she scavenged for food for breakfast. On the bus on her way to school. At the back of her dreaded creative writing class. In the bathroom mirror as she covered her bruises with dollar tree makeup and on the mattress as she ran her fingers through the golden locks of her daughters hair, praying to whatever god was out there that oh so sweet Faith wouldn't wake from the screams of her fighting foster parents
But Evelyn Harris definitely had no fucking clue why Maya and Carina Deluca-Bishop decided that out of all the foster kids in the world, ( the ones she swears deserves a family more) to give their love to her, why her?
