CH 16: PRT. 1

*****

Lorelai was in her apartment getting ready for the day, debating which cardigan would go better with her pleated skirt when she heard a knock at the door.

She quickly ran over to the door and opened it to see Daniel with a bag of food.

"You brought me food?" Lorelai asked with a big smile.

He nodded with furrowed eyebrows and asked, "What else would I bring?"

She nodded, letting him in.

They walked into her kitchen, and he then set down the styrofoam box on the table.

"I had to plead with the cook to make normal-sized chocolate chip pancakes. That place only has it on the kid's menu," Daniel laughed.

Lorelai raised an eyebrow and said, "Then I say to never go there again."

"Your wish is granted. I will be buying pancakes from IHOP next time," he added.

Lorelai's scrunched nose disapproved of the decision.

"You don't like IHOP?" Daniel asked.

She shook her head and said, "Their pancakes are okay."

"Then no IHOP. I guess I'll just have to run around the city like a madman," he shrugged.

The two sat down and started to eat their breakfast. Lorelai didn't notice that Daniel was trying to figure out how to say something.

"Do you have a case yet?" He blurted out, unsure of where to start.

Lorelai shook her head, "Not yet. Though, they should call any minute now."

"Well, I was thinking. When you come back, I could show you something," Daniel said sheepishly.

She raised an eyebrow curiously and asked, "Like what?"

"It's a surprise," he shrugged with a smile.

"Come on," Lorelai gasped. "You know I'm not that good with surprises. I hate them—well, not really. Like these pancakes; good surprise. But for one like this, where will it take days? I can't do it," she said, shaking her head.

Daniel laughed, "Well, I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait."

"But-"

Her phone then rang.

"Saved by the bell," he teased, taking another bite of his pancakes.

Lorelai playfully rolled her eyes as she then answered, "Da Luca."

"Since when have you ever addressed yourself as "Da Luca," princess?" Morgan said on the phone.

She laughed, "Since Hotch told me that I'm an agent and need to sound like one, I also didn't look at the caller ID, so I just assumed you were Hotch."

"Makes sense. We've got a case," he continued.

"What?  We do? I can't believe it," Lorelai responded sarcastically.

Morgan laughed, "I know. Who would've thought? Pack your bags for New Mexico."

"New Mexico? Wow," She said, surprised, "I've only been there twice."

"It's a 6th for me," he responded.

"That's because you're old," Lorelai chuckled. "Well, I'll see you there."

"Hey! I'm not that old," he laughed, "but I'll see you in a few minutes."

"New Mexico?" Daniel asked.
