Ketterdam was going to be cold for the next couple of days. That was the first thing that came to mind after Sabo had taken down the Stadsverwarming. If the plan succeeded, Pekka could pack up his businesses.

Sabo knew that each of them had promised Kaz that they wouldn't take any detours, but she still had some time before she was supposed to meet up with Jesper.

If everything went smoothly, Inej would be at the Emerald Palace, in the shadows watching Kaz.

That meant that none of them would be in the Fifth Harbor.

She needed a clue, a lead, an advantage.

Sabo observed the ships that were lying at the docks.

The Drakonasha, the Yolak, the Sildroher, the Kenst Hjerte, and many many more ships.

Most of them were Fjerdan, but most of them had been lying in the harbor even before the crows had returned to Ketterdam.

She memorized the names before she walked toward the Emerald Palace. Jesper was already waiting for her, they just had to wait for the siren.

'Did it work?' Jesper asked.

'It did.' Sabo replied as they looked at the partygoers. 'Ketterdam is going to be cold for at least a few days.'

'As long as you keep the fire going in our club, it's fine by me.' Jesper joked.

The siren started.

'Are you ready?' Sabo asked.

'We're the backup, after all.' Jesper replied before they opened the doors to the Emerald Palace.

Kaz was standing opposite Pekka, there was blood on his face. His eyes were cold and she could see how he was taking in deep and steady breaths.

'The Fifth Harbor is shut down.' Kaz breathed as he clutched his side. 'Your businesses are tainted.'

'My businesses will be fine.' Pekka sneered as he pointed his gun toward Kaz's face. 'But you?'

The club was so quiet that Sabo could hear a small metal click of Pekka's gun. Sabo focused on the gun, knowing that even if Kaz could talk his way out of the situation, he could still get hurt.

The bullets were sitting in the gun, ready to be fired at the person she... shit, the person she loved.

Sabo focused on the bullets, fusing them with the gun. Even if Pekka tried shooting Kaz, it wouldn't work.

A precaution.

'I'd reconsider.' Kaz ordered. 'If you want to see your Kaelish prince again.'

'You've got to be kidding me.' Jesper cursed under his breath.

'What is it?' Sabo whispered.

'Pekka's kid.' Jesper said, slowly panicking.

'Kid? What do you mean?' she asked Jesper, not understanding what he was panicking about.

'Kaz sent Wylan and me to Appelbroek, remember?' he whispered frantically.

Sabo nodded at him. 'Yeah, you told me yesterday.'

'Wylan and I found out Pekka has a kid. I told Kaz and he promised he wouldn't hurt him.'
