Sabo was barely awake as she wrapped up her arm again.

The Verdom was still on her skin. It couldn't be burned off, nor could it be washed off. She had survived the worst part of it, the poison wouldn't last long now.

She put on some clothes when someone knocked on her door.

'Yeah?' she called.

Inej opened the door.

'Hey, Inej.' Sabo smiled. 'Where have you been?'

Inej was silent as she closed the door behind her. 'I'm leaving Ketterdam.' She spoke.

Sabo turned around. 'You're what?'

'Kaz kicked me out of the group.'

Sabo looked at her, checking to see if she was serious. When she realized Inej was serious, she stormed past her towards the door.

'Like hell he-' she cursed. But before Sabo could reach the door, Inej stood in front of her.

'I'm leaving, Sabo.' she said again.

'You don't have to leave.' Sabo replied. 'Why the hell would he do that?'

'Yesterday I wasn't where I was supposed to be.' Inej said, knowing that it wasn't the only reason.

'We ignore parts of Kaz's plans all the time, he even plans around that sometimes. Why would-'

'I decided that it doesn't matter why he did it.' Inej interrupted. 'I'm leaving to go after my brother and sister.' Inej smiled as she held up the paper which promised her her freedom. 'I'm free, Sabo.' she grinned as she grabbed Sabo's hand.

Inej wanted to leave, Sabo realized.

Sabo looked at the paper Inej was holding before looking at her friend. 'You're free.' Sabo smiled.

'And I'll be leaving tonight, Kaz gave me a lead that I can follow.'

'A lead?.' she asked as she sat down on the bed. 'That's great.'

Inej looked at her for a moment before she spoke again. 'Maybe you could come with me.' she began. 'You're cover is blown anyways.'

Sabo smiled at her and wanted to reply, but someone knocked on her door.

'Yes?' Sabo called. Wylan opened the door before looking inside.

'They're here.' Wylan spoke.

'I'll be down in a sec.' Sabo replied. Wylan nodded before he closed the door behind him.

Sabo looked at Inej. 'I don't know for sure what I'm going to do now.' she said. 'I just promised Kaz I would stay for this job.'

Inej thought about Wylan's words. 'What job?' Inej asked.

'I don't know yet, only that there are people from Ravka waiting downstairs, they're here in order of the new King. They want us for a job.' Sabo said before she saw the look on Inej's face. She looked curious. 'Do you want to come?'

'Sure, why not.'

Sabo laughed as she opened the door.

'I can still kick Kaz's ass for throwing you out.' she sniffed.

'From what I'm gathering what Jesper's reaction will be, he'd be outnumbered.'

-----

When Sabo and Inej walked down the stairs, they saw a man with a shielded blade on his back with Zoya, who they had met before.
