BUTTERFLIES

"She's coming with me!"

"I called dibs first!"

After (Y/N) got the chance to change clothes, she was immediately dragged back out from her house. The problem with that was that these two individuals were using her for tug of war. In this case, it was Wally and Julie fighting for her. She felt like a toy that children would argue over for.

"I'm going to show her how to take care of flowers and how to plant them." Julie yelled at Wally as her eyes narrowed into a glare.

"Well I was going to show her how to paint!" Wally replied back and once more pulled the fairy girl towards his side.

"Well too bad because she's coming with me!" Again, she was pulled towards Julie's side.

"No she isn't!"

(Y/N) hadn't uttered a word, afraid she would make it worse if she did. She didn't want to make neither of them upset so she chose that this was the best decision. To stay quiet. 'Maybe they'll come to an agreement.' She thought while the other two continued their fight over their new neighbor.

"Shouldn't we stop them?" Sally asked as she looked up at Howdy who was also looking at the scene his neighbors were doing. "I don't know but I'm going to use this chance to finally restock all the new apples that arrived before Wally tries to steal them again. Seriously I should install a net so I can capture him or something.." The caterpillar creature muttered as he began to walk away from the scene.

Yeah, Wally had a reputation when it comes to apples.

"Wally, Julie, you two should stop before you hurt the poor girl." Poppy was the voice of reasoning that spoke amongst all the chaos going around. "(Y/N) dear, what do you prefer to do first?"

Now that all of the attention was on her, she didn't know what to say. She knew she had agreed to go with both of them so they could show her their talents, but she didn't know it would cause a whole fiasco.

"Well..." Her eyes met theirs as the two waited for her answer. "I think I'm going to go with..-"

"The two of you are going to have to wait because she's coming with me first." Another voice spoke out making (Y/N), Julie and Wally look at them in surprise as they let out a, "Huh?", come out of their mouths. It was Frank who had said that.

"(Y/N) here said she would help me on identifying butterflies and would also come sightseeing them with me." (Y/N) looked at him confused, trying to remember when she had said that.

But by the looks that Frank gave her as if saying, "Just go along with it.", made her nod in understatement. He was trying to help her get out of that situation. "Yeah, that's right!" She said with a happy tone as she raised her pointer finger towards the sky.

"I had forgotten about that. I do have a lot of experience with all kinds of butterflies and I did told Frank I would be helping him today!"

Julie frowned at that but Wally gave her an accusing look, though it was somehow still masked by his smile. "I don't remember seeing you talking to Frank after the first time." Wally said as he still kept his gaze on her eyes.

'She's lying.' Is what he thought.

"It was after you had left. Maybe that's why you didn't see me..." She tried giving him a little white lie, but she didn't know if she was convincing enough.

"Oh, maybe you're right then. My apologies, perhaps later when you're available we can reschedule for that lesson." Wally's smile didn't fade, but his eyes grew darker. More than they already were.

Before anything else could escalate, he was pushed away by Julie who grabbed (Y/N)'s attention as she grasped the fairy girl's hands. "After she's done, she'll be coming with me to go tend to the flowers! Right?"

(Y/N) looked towards Wally without answering to Julie first. She could tell he was beginning to grow bothered as his body tensed. "If it's alright with you, Wally, we could paint after I'm done with Frank and Julie? I would really like to learn how to draw a sunset. I can spend my morning with Julie and Frank and the afternoon with you."

For some reason, she didn't want to see him upset. A part of her told her to keep him happy and pleased, to not make him disappointed. But she didn't know why she was getting this feeling. It creeped around her whole body as she felt a shudder travel across her whole being.

There it was, she felt that unsettling stare once again. Almost like a warning.

To not only her, but to everyone.

"That's fine then." His voice distracted her from her thoughts as she nodded to him as to say, "Alright.". At least they both calmed down and they all came to a civil agreement. "Then I will see all of you later!" She waved goodbye to all the neighbors except for Frank as she followed after him.

"Thanks for helping me." She told him as they began to make their way towards the entrance of the woods.

"It's no problem at all. I know how stressful they can be, trust me." Frank sighed and rubbed his forehead as he thought about his noisy neighbors. Even if Julie was his best friend, she sometimes could be too chaotic for him. He still loved and cared for her dearly though.

(Y/N) chuckled at his stressed face before replying to him. "I don't think they're that bad." It was true, she had to deal with far worst back at her home with her siblings.

"Yeah? Well I give you a week before you lose your sanity."

The two then began their little journey through the woods and the neighbor who always worn a frown, was actually smiling a lot this time. Frank learned a lot from (Y/N) and he also learned about butterflies species that he didn't even know existed.

He was glad the forest girl was there to explain every single thing towards him and some facts as well that he was unaware of. For example, the girl told him butterflies tasted food through their feet, which he didn't know about. He thought maybe they did it like Wally.

(Y/N) asked him as well if he wanted to have butterflies as pets, but Frank denied that. He rathered seeing them flying freely than having them locked up. I mean, they had wings for a reason. They were meant to be free.

He did catch them sometimes, but he was very gentle with them and he only did it to study them from up close and write about them on his journal.

Believe it or not, he told the fairy girl that one time he spied on Howdy for weeks to see if he would turn into a butterfly. He didn't, much to his disappointment. The female could only burst out laughing at his story. Just imagining him from a bush spying on the poor salesman who was only doing his job was gold.

Then they continued their little talk about the little creatures he fancied so much. (Y/N) had to explain to him that she was not a butterfly when he asked her. Her wings were very similar to them, to which she understood his confusion but she informed him the type of forest fairy that she was. Though her wings functions were kinda alike the little winged creatures.

The big difference was that her wings were strong and not as delicate as theirs. That's why she could fly very fast.

After a few hours, they came back towards the neighborhood and the creature waiting for their arrival was none other than Julie. "Finally! You two took forever." She skipped in her steps as she made her way towards them.

"Are you ready?" The blonde smiled, taking (Y/N)'s right hand. "I hope you don't mind the dirt." She added with a small giggle.

"Yeah, I'm ready!"

Then, she was ready for her next activity with the blonde female.
