The boarding school's staff greeted Ava warmly, their smiles easing some of her nervousness. They helped her with her luggage, guiding her through the bustling airport. Ava's eyes darted around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings of the airport terminal, teeming with hurried travellers. The tinge of homesickness she felt intensified, knowing that her father wasn't there with her.

As they approached the school's campus, Ava's eyes widened in awe. The grounds were vast and beautifully landscaped, with well-manicured gardens and impressive historical buildings that exuded an air of academic excellence. Groups of students engaged in animated conversations, laughing and catching up after the summer break. It was a far cry from the familiar comforts of her home, but Ava took a deep breath, reminding herself that this was the start of a new chapter in her life.

A kind teacher named Ms. Whitmore greeted Ava, her warm smile instantly putting her at ease. Ms. Whitmore guided her through the campus, pointing out the main facilities and answering her questions about the school. As they approached the dormitory, Ava's heart skipped a beat. This would be her new home away from home.

Inside the dormitory, Ava's nerves turned to excitement as Ms. Whitmore opened the door to her room. She stepped inside, taking in the neat, cosy space that would become her sanctuary during her time at the school. The room had two beds adorned with colourful beddings, each with a personal touch from previous occupants. A small desk sat by the window, offering a view of the campus beyond.

Ava placed her backpack on the bed furthest from the door, her fingers tracing the delicate patterns of the bedspread. She wheeled her suitcases into the room, taking a moment to organize her belongings. The excitement of the new beginning mixed with a touch of uncertainty, but Ava knew she had the strength to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

"I hope you like it here, Ava," Ms. Whitmore said with genuine warmth. "Your roommate, Sarah, should be arriving soon. I'm sure you two will get along wonderfully."

Ava smiled at Ms. Whitmore, feeling grateful for the teacher's kindness. "Thank you," she replied.

As Ava stood in the room, she couldn't help but feel a swirl of emotions. She took a deep breath, letting the excitement and uncertainty wash over her. The room felt both familiar and foreign, a space that would soon become her home away from home.

With a determined spirit, Ava started organizing her belongings. She carefully placed her clothes in the wardrobe, making sure to arrange them neatly. Her favourite books and a few treasured keepsakes found their place on the desk, creating a small sanctuary for her thoughts and dreams. A photo of her family took its spot beside her bed, a reminder of the love and support she carried with her.

Ms. Whitmore's kind words echoed in her mind, offering reassurance amidst the whirlwind of emotions. The thought of meeting her roommate, Sarah, brought a mix of excitement and curiosity. Ava hoped they would get along and become fast friends, sharing the adventure of boarding school life together.

As the minutes ticked by, Ava's anticipation grew. The sound of footsteps in the hallway made her heart skip a beat. Soon, the door opened, and a girl with warm, friendly eyes and chocolate hair not too dissimilar to her own entered the room. "Hi, I'm Sarah!" she said with a bright smile.

Ava couldn't help but return Sarah's warm smile, feeling a little more at ease already. She extended her hand for a handshake. "Hi Sarah, I'm Ava. It's nice to meet you too."

Sarah entered the room with a stack of books and personal items, making the dorm feel more lived-in and welcoming. "I hope you like the room. I tried to make it cosy and welcoming," she said, her eyes filled with kindness.
