14-The First Attack

"What's that thing - hanging underneath?" Ginny asked her brother with a slight quiver in her voice.

The four Gryffindors edged nearer, weasel almost slipped over; there was a large puddle of red substance, most probably blood on the floor. Brown and Seamus grabbed him, and they inched towards the message, eyes fixed on a dark shadow beneath it.

All three of them realized what it was at once and leapt backwards in a splash with the blood getting on their robes making Ginny scream in horror.

Weasel was quick to cover her mouth to stop anyone from hearing her as the four of them looked at the thing in horror. Mrs. Norris, Filch's cat or rather a disfigured version of it was now hanging by her tail from the torch bracket.

There was a large portion of its stomach missing as the intestines were hanging out along with blood dripping down on the puddle they just stepped on. She was stiff as a board, her eyes wide open and staring. For a few seconds the four kids didn't move. Then Seamus said,

"Let's get out of here!"

"Shouldn't we alert a professor or something-" Ginny said in an exasperated voice as weasel gave her a stern look saying,

"Believe me, we don't want to be found here."

But it was too late. A rumble was heard as students from either ends of the corridor where they stood came talking loudly. Addie, who was currently in between her two siblings, heard a familiar hiss in her ear,

'I smell blood mistress.'

Addie knew that in a few seconds the whole school was going to walk into her crime scene as she smirked her signature evil smirk as she waited for the fun to begin.

The students stopped the chattering when they finally spotted the bloody cat hanging on the torch. Addie couldn't be prouder of Vipera at this moment as she looked at the bloody scene in glee.

She looked around as she saw the four Gryffindors standing in the middle of the scene with blood spattered on the 'golden trio's ' robes and a frightened Ginny.

Addie was practically thanking her lucky stars that these three and for some reason Ginny were caught literally red-handed in the middle of the whole scene. Then she felt Drake nudge her as he said in a loud voice,

"Enemies of the heir beware! You'll be next Mudbloods!" as he grinned at the sight of the bloody, hanging immobile cat.

Addie couldn't help but think how stupid her brother could be at times. She was just thankful he wasn't saying it in a way that could lead back to her. Suddenly they heard a voice

"What's going on here? What's going on?"

Attracted no doubt by Drake's voice, Argus Filch came shouldering his way through the crowd. Then he saw Mrs. Norris and fell back in a loud cry, clutching his chest in horror.

"My darling! My dear cat! What's happened to Mrs. Norris?" he shrieked as his eyes were bulging almost like it was popping out of its sockets.

His popping eyes fell on weasel,

"You!" he screeched,

"You! You've murdered my cat! You've butchered her! I'll Kill You! I'll -"

"ARGUS!"

The students who were all watching the scene unfold made way as Dumbledore arrived on the scene, followed by McGonagall and the other teachers.

In seconds he had swept past the golden trio and Ginny and detached the bloody cat from the torch basket with his wand. He'd cleared up the blood as he turned towards Argus,
