Luca

"What the fuck was that?" I broke the silence by saying. Santino honestly looked like he was going to cry.

"Shit. It was Callie, wasn't it?" Emiliano asked.

"We don't know for sure but I have my suspicions," Lorenzo said.

Dante immediately went to punching the wall, evidence of the earlier actions of hatred towards his little sorella disappearing.

(Sister)

"Why wouldn't she tell us?" Alessandro asked.

"She barely knows us," I reasoned. "Now how are we going to bring it up to her?"

Amara

I laid in the soft, fluffy bed, staring at the ceiling and just wondering what the fuck just happened. I could just lie out my teeth, right? I had no reason to trust them or tell them.

All my overthinking caused me to fall asleep into the depths of the darkness that haunts me.

-----------------------

I woke up to whispering outside my door. Not so quiet whispering. Sighing, I quickly got up and changed into sweatpants and an oversized hoodie to hide everything. All I wanted to do was scream and break something.

I wanted to hurt myself.

To feel something other than this emotional pain.

After I got dressed, I pulled my hood up and opened my door. The whispering going on between Santino and Luca stopped as I walked past them.

I could feel their gazes on my back. I didn't even know where I was going.

"Breakfast's ready," Luca finally spoke up, coming to my side and Santino on my other side. Almost like escorts.

I just nodded and followed them to the dining table.

They weren't supposed to find out about this yet. Maybe not ever. I made a plan of just lying though. That's what I always had to do to survive, right?

"Good morning, bambina," Lorenzo said.

I just nodded in acknowledgement and food was soon placed in front of us. Way too much for me to eat, that's for sure.

I picked at my food, not having an appetite. "Amara, you have to eat it," Alessandro said.

I looked up at him. "I'm not hungry," I muttered.

"You barely ate anything last night, though," Alessandro pushed on.

"Yeah, well, I'm not hungry. What's the big deal?" I snapped.

"The big deal is that you have to eat!" His voice boomed. I kept a blank face though.

"Do you have an eating disorder or something? Just eat the fucking food," Dante said. "You should be grateful," he said.

I slammed my silverware down. "No, I don't!" I yelled. "What is your fucking problem with me?" I asked him sternly.

"Hey, watch your language," Lorenzo said but I ignored him.

"Watch your tone. Do you know who you're speaking to?" Dante asked, standing up to which I followed motion.

"An asshole," I said.

I could see a small smirk on Luca's face. An almost invisible one.

Dante took a step closer. "Listen here you little-" he started but was cut off by Lorenzo's cold, loud voice.

"Both of you, sit down," he commanded. I glared at Dante and reluctantly sat down.

"Mara, we need to talk," he said. I ignored the nickname and mentally prepared for this talking to. "About yesterday," Lorenzo finished.

I felt my whole insides drop but I made sure my face stayed the same. "What about it?" I gritted out.

"Your bruises," Lorenzo said. "How did that happen?" He asked.

"I fell," I said, lying through my teeth.

"And that amount of damage was done?" Emiliano piped in.

"It was a hard fall," I said monotonously.

"Right, well, I feel we need to discuss the rules. Don't think we haven't forgotten about Ojos Del Diablo. Follow me to my office," Lorenzo said, getting up from his seat and walking out of the dining room.

I rolled my eyes and got up as well, going to follow him. "Don't roll your eyes!" Alessandro called to which I flipped him the birdie. Oops.

I followed Lorenzo onto the third floor and into an office at the end of the hall. He closed the door behind us. "Take a seat," he said, going around the large desk with papers scattered around and sitting down. I took a seat in front of him, my dull, green eyes boring into his.

"Let's go over rules, shall we?" He asked.

"Rule one. No leaving without telling one of us where you're going, understand?" He asked. Eh...I guess. Maybe. I nodded.

"Rule two, no lying," he said sternly. It's almost like he could see right through me.

"Rule three," he began. "No boys. No boyfriends and no boys as friends, understood?" I just laughed. I laughed like this was a joke.

"You're joking, right?" I asked.

"Nope," he said with his icy cold glare.

"Yeah, well, you can't dictate who I become friends with," I said.

I saw him getting more annoyed by the second. "No. Boys. Do I make myself clear?" He asked.

"Yeah, whatever," I said, rolling my eyes and waving him off. I would have a hard time following that one.

"Rule four, no eye rolling," he said. Eat shit, Lorenzo.

"Rule five, ask before you come to the third floor or the basement, understood? This is important and for our...family business, alright? So I expect you to follow this," he said. No third floor or the basement? Interesting.

"Last rule, rule six, respect your brothers," he said.

I scoffed. "Respect you guys? I need you guys to respect me first before I come anywhere close to respecting you. So far, you're not doing a great job," I said. "Dante fucking took off my sweatshirt! Are you fucking serious? That was a total invasion of privacy," I raised my voice.

Lorenzo sighed. I knew I was being difficult but I needed my point to come across them. "Yes, I understand that and it will never happen again, alright?" He said.

"Yeah, it better not," I snapped.

"Watch your tone," Lorenzo warned. "A few of your brothers will take you shopping for school that's in a few days. Behave yourself," he said before dismissing me like this was some fucking business meeting.

My so called brothers infuriated me. They ticked me off and got into my privacy. God, how I wish Gael was here. I missed him so damn much since he left. The thought almost made tears well in my eyes but I pushed it back. No way would I cry again.

I already spent the last of my miserable tears.
