What. Have. I. Done?

I was sitting there in my last class of the day thinking back to the events on the roof. Some random guy scared me, I began to fall to my death, that guy saves me, we then proceeded to gaze into each others eye for a while, and I'd told him my greatest weakness. To top this all off, that random guy? Yeah, no big deal he's only RYKER! What was I thinking!?! I told the most dangerous guy here my biggest weakness! Okay calm down. What's the worst that can happen? He tells the entire school! My brain screamed at me. Crap. I hadn't thought of that.

The shrill clanging of the bell made me jump. I jerked out if my inner battle and quickly gathered up my stuff. What do I do? I felt sick, what if he told everyone? I'd be the laughing stock of the entire school. I wanted to cry, however I refused to cry in front of anyone.

I hurried to my locker, dodging Ashton and Lance. Flinging open the door, I quickly gathered the things I needed to do tonight.

"There you are!" I jumped as Lance exclaimed beside me. "Jumpy much?" He laughed.

"Shut up." I groaned.

"Chill girl, I'm just messin'." Lance chuckled. "Hey so . . . " he trailed off as I looked up at him. "Lex, you alrite?"

"Yeah, I'm good." I shrugged.

"You look pale and well not good." He looked at me, concerned.

"I said I'm fine, Lance." He winced slightly at my lethal tone. Feeling guilty, I quickly apologized. "I'm sorry. It's just first day stress." I lied, very convincingly if I do say so myself.

"Nah, it's aight. I get it." He shrugged, smiling.

"Okay, well hey I'm gonna get going, my mom should be here soon." I lied again.

"Aight! Catchya ya later Lex!" He smiled widely before heading off around the corner.

Closing my locker door, I turned and swung my bag over my shoulder as I began my way toward the front doors. I'd just came down the last flight of steps when I was suddenly ripped backwards and flung into the lockers. Not again! I cried inwardly. That snobby face came into view again an I groaned silently.

"I lead, not follow. Especially garbage like you." She spit acidly before turning on her heel and strutting out the door.

"Puta." I growled under my breath.

"Hmm . . I don't speak Spanish. But I'm pretty sure you just swore." A deep voice purred in my ear. I jumped and spun around quickly, coming face to face with Ryker. Not sure what to say, I simply nodded. "I thought so. Tsk tsk." He said, clicking his tongue at me in mock disappointment. I looked at him, my eyes narrowing slightly and my brow crinkling up. His smirk widened at my reaction.

"I have to go." I told him as I turned to leave.

"No! Wait!" He reached out and grabbed my arm. I looked down at his hand and back up at him, raising my eyebrows.

"How about you don't touch me." I suggested, delicately peeling his fingers off my arm. He looked totally shocked. His eyes widened slightly and his mouth popped open in to an 'o'.

"Well you seemed fine with it a hour ago, up on the roof." He shot back, recovering quickly.

"I didn't know who you were then." I fired back.

"What does that mean!" He shouted, his anger rising.

"People warned me about you." I said, not directly answering his question.

"Yeah?" He mocked.

"Yeah, they did!"

"And what'd they say?" He questioned dangerously. At this point his eyes were full out glowing like the last time I saw him angry. It still scared me and I felt myself wince.

"To stay away from you, far away from you." I answered with a slight growl in my voice. This guys was not going to push me around. No way.

"And?" He looked down at me, daring me to go on.

"And. That is exactly what I plan on doing!" I stated, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Is that so?" he asked. There was a threatening tone to his voice as if he was going to explode.

"Yes" I replied wryly. His lips suddenly twisted up into a smirk and his eyes began to slowly dim until they returned to normal. Well his normal. They were still a weird gold that reminded me so much of a cat, but they no longer were glowing.

"We'll see about that." He smirked at me, looking so full of himself.

I turned on my heel and marched away. As I left I heard the unmistakable sound of a gasp. To angry to turn around and see what his problem was, I kept right on walking. I did not need this. I was already the new kid and it didn't help that I had a different ethnical background than everyone else in this school. The last thing I needed was to be around that jerk. My steps faltered as a thought occurred to me. He knows my secret. I'd totally forgotten. Great, and after that argument he'd probably tell any and everyone that would listen.

Deciding there was nothing I could do about it, I continued outside. I saw my mom's shinny car parked along the curb and I quickly climbed in.

"Hola, mi amor! How was escuela?!" Mom squealed as she began driving.

"Good." I sighed, gazing out the window.

"Good! That's all you have to say!? How are your classes? Do you like your teachers? It's a big escuela isn't it? Very beautiful! Did-"

"Mamá! Slow down!"

"Aye, sorry mija! Did you make any amigas?"

"Yes, actually."

"Well?! What's her name?

"Actually Mamá, they are boys." I said shifting awkwardly in my seat. She looked at me then cracked a huge smile.

"I told you! I told you you'd have all the chicos chasing you!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Ayeeee, Mamá!" I groaned exasperatedly.

"Mamá is always right!" She sang. I rolled my eyes. "Say it! Say Mamá is always right!" She sang again.

"Ayee, no Mamá!" I protested.

"Lexington!" She warned.

"Mamá is always right." I sighed, giving in.

"That's right!" She exclaimed.

We pulled into the drive way as I was telling her all about Lance and the guys that had taken me in.

"They sound very nice, Mija." She said smiling.

"They are. They helped me find all my classes and even threatened a couple kids who looked at me funny." I left out the hole part about Stacy and how I'd gotten slapped around. I also left out how I'd spilt my secret to the most dangerous guy in school.

"Kids looked at you funny, Mija?" She looked horrified.

"Mamá, I'm the new kid. Everybody looks at me funny." I said as if it was no big deal. She shrugged, seeming to accept my answer.

As we got inside and entered the kitchen mom turned to me with a gleam in her eyes.

"Tell me more about these chicos!" She commanded.

"Mamá." I protested.

"Lex." She warned.

"Alright, alright, Mamá." I gave in and proceed to tell her everything about the boys that had adopted my as one of the gang. I even went on to tell her how Lance and I discovered we're cousins. "Can you believe that, Mamá! I have a primo at that school! Did you know that when you chose it?" I asked.

"Not all, Mija. But that is exciting! What's his name again?"

"Lance Jacobs."

"Ahh! Is his papa brothers with Martin?

"Yeah, that's what he said."

"Hmm. I wonder which hermano is his papa."

"I don't know. He never gave me his parents names. Umm were one of his brothers adopted?"

"I don't think so, why?" She looked at me, confused.

"Because. Lance is black." I stated simply.

"Aye! That must be Blake and Sofia's boy! They adopted him when he was a infant since she can't have babies."

"She cant?" I questioned.

"No, Mija. It's a very sad thing, she is simply unable."

"Aye, poor Sofia!" I said feeling bad for the family.

"Yes, but Blake still loves her, which is what matters Mija." I was just about to agree when Martin stepped through the doorway.

"Discussing my little brother, are we?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Sí, Martin. She was telling me about meeting Lance today and I was explaining how he was adopted."

"Ahh, yes that he was." Martin smiled at me. "They've adopted all their children, and I believe they are working on another." He said, his smile widening slightly.

"That's right! The mother was to give birth on Monday. They are adopting a little girl, Mija."

"I'm sure she will be adorable." I said smiling.

"Well, I'm off. Goodbye girls!" We said our goodbyes as he left. After the door clicked I turned to mom.

"Where is he going! It's almost five."

"He has a meeting, Mija. He won't be back until late probably." Just as she replied Robbie stumbled in through the door way, rubbing his eyes.

"Mamá." He whimpered.

"Aye. Look who decide to wake up." She grinned down at the boy as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"Outside." He chirped quietly, grasping her pant leg. Mom grabbed her purse and began rummaging through it.

"Here." She said handing me a couple of ten dollar bills. "Why don't you take Robbie to the park, you guys can eat somewhere afterwards. I believe there's a nice little dinner near it."

"Just me and Robbie? What about you?"

"Nahh, I'll stay here with the baby. Maria will want fed soon anyway."

"Okay. But wait, what about supper?"

"I'll make some leftovers from last night, Mija. Go. Have fun." She encouraged.

"Okay. If you insist, Mamá."

"Yes. Go, Mija!" She grinned.

"Okay, bye."

"My sissy?"

"Yes, Roberto, I am." I answered the little toddler as I zipped his coat. We stood on the front porch and a soft breezed whispered over our skin. "Come, let's go to the park." I said as I reached out my hand. He looked at me hesitantly before taking it.

The park wasn't far from our home. In fact, I passed it on the way to school today, I just hadn't realized it. The walk was peaceful and Robbie said little. His little mind couldn't quite grasp who I was, but he new he's was safe. His tiny hand grasped mine and I felt him squeeze it as a dog barked behind a fence. I squeezed his hand in response and he smiled slightly, seeming to relax.

I took a seat on the bench as Robbie wondered off to play. However, I never took my eyes off him. I missed the little boy's entire existence while I was away and I'd be danged if I missed anymore. I felt a surge of protectiveness for the curly haired boy. He was adorable and I would never let anyone hurt him as long as I lived. He waved at me from the top of a slide. I waved back, grinning.

As it began to get later I called to him. "Robbie! Come on hun, it's time to go!" He hopped up from his place in the sand sauntered over, trying to brush himself off. "Ready to go?" I asked, helping him to brush off the sand.

"We eat?" He asked excitedly.

"Sure!" I laughed. Taking his hand again I headed in the direction of the dinner my mom had told me about.

Upon entering I heard my name being called. Looking around, my eyes connected with those beautiful emerald ones.

"Lex! Over here!" Lance called, waving wildly. I towed my brother along as I approached the table.

"Hey guys!" I greeted.

"Who's this?" Lance asked, looking down at my brother. Robbie squirmed under Lance's gaze. Then he looked to Ashton and quickly latched on to my leg. He held on with a death grip and refused to let go, despite my attempt to reassure him. I laughed at the irony of the situation. At the beginning of the evening he was hesitant to take my hand and now he was glued to my leg.

"This is Roberto." Their eyebrows rose as the name rolled off my tongue. "Just call him Robbie." I said smiling. They instantly broke into smiles of their own and said their hellos, trying not to appear threatening.

"Here have a seat." Ashton said, sliding out of the booth and sliding into the one with Lance.

"Thank you." I said, sitting across from them along with Robbie.

Laying in bed that night I thought about today's events.

Today was the first day of school. I'd made four friends, two of which I absolutely trust to to have my back. I'd also made and enemy who seemed to want me to get eaten by a shark. I'd had a extremely emotional and passionate encounter with the schools most dangerous man. I'd told my weakness to that man. And then later that day, I'd had a pretty heated argument with him.

Needless to say, I think this day was just perfect and I simply can't imagine it going any other way. I hate my life.
