you looked around, panicked. your first instinct was to call for your mom. you tried but all you managed to get out was a scream of pain. that plan was abandoned.
next solution was to call diego. the sheets were a mess but your hand somehow finds your phone. everything was blurry from your tears. your fingers shake as you tried to put your passcode in.
you dialed diego and he picks up.
"y/n! how'd you sleep? my service isn't that good here."
"dieg-AH" your contractions got to you before you could even speak.
"y/n??? are you okay?" his voice sounded glitchy. it was only a matter of time before the call disconnected.
"diego i think i'm in-"
"Call disconnected. Please try again."
"FUCK, MOMMM." so many years on this earth, and you've never felt this much anger. labor was really kicking your ass.
your mom rushes in the room, and sees the way you held yourself. it was time to go.
"ok don't freak out, i'm gon-"
"IM ALREADY FREAKING OUT"
"that is no way to speak to your mother." she muttered while slowly standing you up.
once both feet hit the ground and you stood up, you felt an adrenaline rush. suddenly you felt the urge to get everything done immediately.
you wanted to give birth already, you wanted to be at the hospital, and you just wanted everything done. then your mind goes to diego, and how so worried he was he'd miss the birth.
"no i'm okay, i can wait." you pushed your mother aside and sat on the staircase. your plan? force yourself to give birth until diego was with you.
"honey no, you need to go to the hospital now. i've called the neighbors, and they already have the car ready."
"call them again and tell them i'm not ready. i can wait un-"you were cut off by a cry of your own.
"i'm calling diego so he can convince you to go to the hospital." she dialed him and it took a few calls for him to reach it.
"suegra! y/n called but it disconnected before it-"
"she's in labor and refuses to go to the hospital! please talk to her!! convince her to go NOW!"
she shoves the phone in your hands. you barely catch it with how sweaty your hands were.
"y/n?? are you in labor??" you could hear how panicked his voice was.
"yeah but i'm okay! i feel fine. i can wait until you're he-" another cry interrupted.
"love please go to the hospital. i'll be there in an hour, don't worry about me. please"
"NO diego you're not listening to me," you started crying, "i'm fine, i don't need a hospital okay? i just need you to come home."
"go to the hospital y/n before something bad happens to both you and junior! we can't risk it. just go." it was the last thing he said before it disconnected.
you cried into your hands. your mom slowly picks you back up. your steps were small and inefficient. it felt like it took you years before you could sit down.
the ride to the hospital consisted you telling everyone you're okay, then yelling in pain, and the people around you trying to contact diego. you've never felt such pain before. your thoughts were on about never carrying a baby again, cussing diego out for not being here even though it wasn't his fault, and praying to god you DIDNT die.
"y/n how are you feeling?"
"just DRIVE." it was best if they didn't speak to you. the stuff that came out your mouth were either profanities or yelling.
"diego texted us! he said he was on his way. he took a separate car and speeding over here. his location shows he's about an hour away." one of your lovely neighbors told you.
"can he hurry up?! i'm TIRED OF HIM."
"diego? or baby diego that's incoming?"
"BOTH."
meanwhile, diego was swerving cars left and right. he was trying to stay calm but his little boy was on the way. how could he not freak out??
since the service wasn't the best, nobody picked up his calls. it made him even more nervous. he had no idea what was happening on your end. what if you already had given birth? what if there was a complication?
he shook his head. no, he was thinking too negatively. his eyes peered over the gps screen, only 40 more minutes until he arrived. there was still some hope left.
diego presses on the gas petal. if the gps says he can get there in 40 minutes then he'll speed up, and he'll get there in 30. junior's birth was something he wasn't going to miss.
"miss, please get out the car!" one of the nurses gently pulled you out the car.
"no i'm okay i'm fine. we can wait a little longer."another cry of pain was yelled. everyone forced you to get on the wheelchair while they rolled you into a room.
only 20 minutes away.
they put you in a room. strapped everything that needed to be put on you. you had an IV and everything else. it was only a matter of time.
10 more minutes away.
the doctor checked and you were already 10 centimeters wide. now it truly was a matter of time.
5 more minutes away.
diego is trying to find a parking spot. he then abandons that idea and decides to park right in front of the building. he could pay the fine later.
2 more minutes away.
diego lainez junior was coming out and there was no denying it. you tried your absolute best to keep him in.
10 seconds away.
"miss. y/n, i believe the father of the child is-"
"Y/N!" he rushes to your side and ignoring everyone else in the room. he looks around and junior is nowhere to be found.
"junior?"
"the baby isn't out yet. miss. y/n has been refusing to push or even try to get him out. i see why now." the doctor said while eyeing diego.
"miss y/n please push, and sir next time be on time for your sons arrival."
before diego could make a comeback, you were already pushing. he felt his hand being squeezed so hard he thought you broke it.
it didn't take long before the both of you could hear the cries of a newborn. they cleaned him up and handed him to you.
it didn't take a genius to see that junior looked just like his father. you could see his nose was nicely shaped like his father. his hair was brown and thick like his father. it was quite literally diego lainez (junior).
"i have a son.." diego's sentence was barely audible. he felt if he spoke any louder junior would cry again.
"can i carry him?" he whispered again. you nodded and slowly handed junior to him.
diego has carried a lot of babies in his life. his nieces, nephews, baby cousins or maybe babies that were handed to him by fans. he's carried so many and yet this felt so different.
diego lainez was finally carrying his own.
