Wrong Number (Spider-Man)

🕸 7. The beginning of Iron-Dad 🕸

It was now Wednesday and Ned and Peter had made great progress on the AI, it was almost finished, so as he almost always got a bit of free time he decided to work on it at his internship, he had helped Mr. Stark on various projects, but he also got a lot of free time to just work on whatever he wanted to.

He arrived at Stark towers after a boring day of school, luckily Flash had been sick so he didn't have to sit through his bullying. He went inside the tower and waved quickly at Gwen, before heading in the elevators. Almost everyone knew him by now, just so there wouldn't be another 'Black Widow situation'.

"Hello Mr. Stark" Peter said with a cheerful voice as he entered the lab. "Anything you need my help with?"
"I told you to call me Tony and not right now Pete, I'm just tinkering with some of the nanotechnology on my Iron-Man suit. "Oh, okay Mr. Tony, so I can just work on whatever I want?"

"Yeah sure" Tony said not even looking up from his suit, so Peter took out his computer and started to do some finishing touches on his AI.

"Hello, can you hear me?" The spider said, forgetting he wasn't alone in the room.
"Yes, any problems Pet-" Tony started but was cut off by a digital voice, not sounding male or female or had any accent.

"Yes I can Peter, how may I assist you?"
Tony looked over at the boy, who was looking at the computer with sparkles in his eyes.
"Who was that?"
"My AI, hey what's your name?"
"I don't have a given name at the moment, so my name is just 'AI'"
"Oh, oops, gotta code a name in there"
Tony had walked over to the boy.

"What have you made?"
"Oh, this is my AI, I need to code a different voice in and I'm thinking naming her Liz or something"
Tony looked from the boy to the AI.
"When did you start on this? Is this why you built the computer? And did you do all of this by yourself?" Tony asked, surprise clear in his voice.

"1, uhhh, like 2 weeks ago, I've been working on it on and off after school, 2, yes, this was one of the main reasons I build the computer, 3, no my friend Ned helped me"
"Soo how old is this Ted guy? And he definitely deserves either an internship or a job here at SI, depending on the age"

"He's my age, and he already has an internship here" Peter paused and thought why not spread some panic among the Avengers, starting now. "Funny enough, both you and an online friend of mine has called him Ted, weird huh?" Peter saw Tonys eyes widen and had a slight hint of panic. "Yes, very weird indeed".

Peter smiled at the reaction and went back into the coding, a bit anxious as Tony Stark was looking over his shoulder.

"This is some pretty great coding kid, what is the purpose of the AI"
"I want her to be able to spot things, and be able to help me find out stuff faster" Peter said, not wanting to lie entirely as he was a pretty bad liar. It was amazing how almost nobody knew about him being Spider-Man.

"Oh, so like homework?" Tony asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I mean not like cheating, but finding the most believable sources on the internet, that way it's going to be a lot faster" Peter said, now that was a lie, but he was just building more onto stuff that already had been suggested, so it was probably not the worst lie.

"Oh, makes sense kid, you don't need to cheat either, you're already really smart, why haven't you graduated already?" Tony asked, smiling a bit.
"Oh, well I could if I wanted, some teachers have already suggested it, but I don't want to leave my friends behind." The spider said, it was still not the whole truth, his friends were one of the main reasons he didn't move up, but it would also just become too busy with being Spider-Man and all, if he actually had to focus on school.

"You have a great heart kid, I'm going to take a look at what Ted do as an intern, and maybe move him a bit up, seeing as he definitely has some skills"
"Thank you Mr. Tony" Peter said, smirking at the loophole he had found, he had been asked to call Mr. Stark 'Tony', and he had, he just haven't removed the 'Mr.'
"Kid, just 'Tony' please" the billionaire said with a sigh.
"Nah" Peter said, his smirk growing a bit larger.

Tony left the room and went to the database, he looked up the name Ted, but there were no results. "Hey kid, what was your friends name again?" Peter went over to his mentor and looked. "May I write it?"
"Sure kid, you can probably spell it better than I can"

Peter tapped the keyboard to spell out his best friends name.
"Edward Leeds? I thought you said his name was Ted?" Peter sighed as an response to his idols questions. "His name is Edward Leeds, but almost everyone just calls him Ned, not Ted"
"Oh, I see, thank you Bambi"
"Bambi?" Peter asked, being very confused.
"Because of your doe brown eyes"
"Uhh- I-, ummm thanks?" The spider said, still very confused.
"Your welcome Bambi"

Peter sighed and accepted the new nickname, then he went back to his computer while Tony looked over the database. Ted or Ned or whatever was working as a low-level intern, so maybe he was lucky to work on some very small projects, but mostly he probably just fetched coffees to the other higher-level interns. Tony tapped on a button, making the boy a higher-level intern.

No, I told him it was to look through sources on the internet and find the most reliable one, you know, for homework

Peter put away his phone and started tinkering with the voice-control of his AI. He could hear footsteps approaching, and his spider-sense told him that someone was walking towards him, but his spider-sense didn't spike, so no danger.

"Hey Bambi, can I help with your AI? I have my experience from making JARVIS and FRIDAY"
"Uhh, no Mr. Stark, I don't need your help" The boy regretted his word choice the second after saying it, now Mr. Stark, probably thought he was rude or something, he decided the best way to tell Mr. Stark that he was sorry was through the group-chat because they still didn't know that he knew.

He asked if he could help and I just said that I didn't need his help, and I'm worried that I might've sounded rude as he was just trying to be nice!

Well, I just don't want him to waste his time on my little hobbies and stuff
He is Iron-Man and a genius, he probably has a lot more important stuff to work on than my way of doing homework easier.

Well, I don't really want his help, like I already said, he probably has a lot more important Iron-Man to work on, and also I like working by myself and figuring things out by myself, that way I learn a lot more
