                             ************

Those horrific nights truly traumatized Onika, so much she had stayed on her tippy toes when it came to Matías. She could not comprehend how a person as evil as Matías could live with themselves. Onika still believed in her heart that she did not deserve this, she was an innocent, random person working on the clock that Matías laid his eyes upon. She cried to herself at night knowing that there was no escape from him, it made her feel so helpless she sometimes thought about getting the idea of Matías not in her life out of her head.

The ladies sat outside enjoying brunch, under their garden umbrella. There sat Onika, Matías' sisters Samara and Mila, also Matías' mother Maria and even India Silvio's fiancee. They laughed and joked while sipping on their long islands. It reminded Onika of how her and Halle used to be. Onika was still not over their friendship, her feelings were hurt but she understands why Halle wouldn't wanna be friends with someone who got her involved in dangerous situations, Onika just wished she knew it wasn't her fault.

The ladies were served finger foods as they talked enjoying the nice breeze, they even got a view of the beautiful beach they were at as the sun slowly set.

"So, how are you feeling, Onika?" Matías' mom Maria suddenly asked, turning her attention to her. Sometimes that question angered Onika a little. How was she supposed to be feeling? She wanted to yell out all the stuff her maniac, sadistic son had already put her through but she didn't, Onika knew Matías' mother was just trying to somewhat help.

"I'm fine." Onika said blankly, noticing she was too cutthroat making a little awkward silence between the two. "I'm healing well." Onika added, Maria nodded and then unexpectedly gave Onika a hug, a soothing hug, one that a mother would give to her child.

"I'm sorry." Maria whispered in Onika's ear. Maria and Onika pulled away from their hug. Onika didn't expect an apology at all. This made Onika think Maria felt a little guilty about what her children are today, in which she should, her son's are literal demons roaming the Earth.

"Onika, when are you gonna become one of us?" Samara asked excitedly, making Onika's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Ya know when are you gonna become a Diamond."

"Yes, make it official with our brother." Mila chimed in. Onika chuckled a little, how more official could it get? Onika already understood she was bound to that man.

"Your brother and I can't get more official, he even claims I'll see him in the next life." Onika joked a little about the threats that were made by Matías.

"Diamonds don't stay unmarried for long." Samara simply said, making Onika begin drinking her drink faster. Onika didn't wanna hear this shit right now, she needed an escape, she thought the drinks should ease her pain. Samara was getting married soon as well with an Italian guy named Giovanni. He dressed well like Matías and his brothers, apparently he was in the mafia too.
Onika is happy for Samara but the last thing Onika wanted to worry about was marrying Matías. She wanted to at least wait, she didn't know for what but at least give her some time to process this.

"How about we stress Onika about this another, yea?" Slivio's wife India spoke, breaking her silence. It was learned that India didn't like speaking much around the Diamonds, she thought of them as all the spawn of Satan. It was appreciated her ending this conversation, Onika quietly mouthed 'thank you' to India.
At least someone understood. Onika thought.
India winked back in response, the ladies then began to chat about the ball they all had to attend tonight. It was for a 'charity' event. Onika couldn't lie, she was excited but nervous to go to the event. She had never been to a ball nor did she ever thought she was. She just hoped nothing crazy happens, for her sake.

Matías got Onika's four teeth nice and polished. He got the custom made in silver brass knuckles, with the shape of skeleton bones carved into the sides. Her white teeth shined, covered with the steel silver. Onika looked at the pretty jewelry, disturbed and disgusted as Matías flaunted them on his hand. They were in the car with tinted windows but that didn't stop her from seeing the flashing cameras and the many people that surrounded the Cadillac. Onika was too exhausted for this night, she was still healing, today was her first day out of bed after spending a whole week and a half in it.

Tonight for the ball Onika wore a breathtaking dark red gown that cascaded to the floor, the silk wrapped around her hips beautifully, making her look even more like a queen. The hairdressers curled her black hair in big curls and did her makeup perfectly giving her slanted eyes more definition. She got out of the car and held Matías' hand for assistance, who led her into the ball.

Onika couldn't lie, Matías looked fine as hell tonight, everytime he stared at Onika it made her want to drop her panties straight to the floor. His hairline was perfectly lined up and instead of his signature slick back he wore his dark black curls that were cut into a faded tapered. Matías and Onika also wore one of their many matching jewelry sets and of course it was diamonds.

They stepped into the ball seeing people as almost dressed down as them. The bright lights from the chandelier, the clicking of champagne glasses and the laughter that came from the people like they all weren't a part of the 'organization'.

Tonight Onika was gonna stick with someone she knew, all the unknown people made her a little shy plus she didn't know how to communicate with them. What was she gonna talk about exactly? Call her awkward if you want but it is true, she has nothing in common with these people.

Knowing that a long night was ahead of her she stayed latched on to Matías for the moment as the donations began.
