The Return

Yosano had left you because she couldn't stay under the table with you forever so you were left alone with Shiro. You had been under the table for a few hours. Entertaining yourself with the things you found in your bag and occasionally the Sunshine-boy would stop by and play with you for a bit. He told you his name was Kenji and he talked a lot and was concerningly honest. He also asked a lot of questions.

You couldn't help but notice how quiet it had gotten so you moved out from under the table. Shiro finding his regular place behind you to float. You began to make your way to the one voice you could hear. Dazai's voice.

"There goes Akutagawa-kun, playing the lone wolf again..." He trails off, turning once he notices your presence in the room. He gestures for you to sit on the chair next to him. "I guess that can't be helped. There's no time to deal with him, Atsushi-kun, keep going."

Your eyes widen at the mention of Aku so you hurriedly sit at the chair, Dazai slides you a headset as you stare at the many monitors.

"Tell him that I have [Y/n] and that they want to speak with him." Dazai says looking to you. You tilt your head confused as you put on the headset. You hear Aku's familiar voice yelling out yours and Dazai's name faintly until you hear his voice clearing in your ears.

"Dazai-san! [Y/n]!" He calls as Dazai hits a button on his headset, you hear a faint beeping noise before you smile at Akutagawa's voice.

"Aku! Are you okay?" You ask, hoping the microphone picks up your voice.

"[Y/n] where have you been! Everyone's been worried about you!" It's the first time you've heard any sort of emotion in Akutagawa's voice.

"I was with the Guild but I managed to get out. I'm with the agency now but they have my phone so I can't call anyone." You explain and hear a sigh of relief before he speaks again.

"[Y/n], I'll come get you after this is all over but is Dazai-san there?" You open your mouth to answer but there was suddenly a loud beeping in your ear. You look to find Dazai with a finger on a button on your headset.

"Sorry but if you speak to him any longer Yokohama would be squished." Dazai says with a smile to which you frown before crossing your arms and sitting back on the chair mimicking Ranpo's sulk. Dazai laughs at this before pressing a button on the board. You don't really pay much attention to what he was saying. You slowly nod off.

"Hey, wake up kid." The voice of Kunikida wakes you and you rub your eyes, finding that you were at a river or lake.

"Where are we?" You ask, flinching as Sushi yells Kyouka's name loudly.

"We're here to congratulate Atsushi and Kyouka. Akutagawa is here too I believe." Kunikida explains and at the mention of Gin's brother you turn your head back around to look over, finding him soaked and bending over as he coughs.

"Aku!" Your eyes widen and manage to roll out of Kunikida's arms.

"Hang on Kid!" Kunikida yells in surprise as you roll when you hit the ground, running towards Akutagawa only to find yourself stopped by water. "Aku!" You wish you could yell louder but your shout was barely "inside volume".

"He's okay. We'll go over there in a second." Yosano says and you turn to see the rest of the agency next to Kunikida. You nod sadly before turning back, waving as Kunikida yells to get Sushi's attention. As the group started to move away to convene with the others you notice Aku being left at the dock on the ground. You inhale sharply, gathering confidence and walk towards Kenji, letting go of Yosano's hand in the process.

"Hm? What's up [Y/n]?" Kenji asks as you tug at his sleeve. You point to where Aku was and then look back at him.

"Can you throw me over there? I promise I can make it." You ask and he smiles down at you.
