Who Are You?

I washed my hands thoroughly. My hands were soaked in water for several minutes but I don't mind it. Wala akong pakialam kahit mamula pa ang aking palad. That Revaz Montague is really different. Pagkatapos ng ginawa niya, nagkaroon pa siya ng ganang tignan ako ng ganoon? The audacity!

It seems like parang wala lang sa kaniya na pumayag siyang ibenta ang orphanage. I don't even see awkwardness in his expression. Manipis at malambot ang mukha niya sa panlabas ngunit makapal ang nasa loob. He's giving me chills! How come he became a teacher with such an attitude?

"They didn't do a background check on him, didn't they?"

He's so over the top. Hindi ba nila nahahalata? His face says it all! Mayabang lang siya dahil marami siyang pera. But looking at the real side, he doesn't really care at all. I think he's just boosting his reputation here. Kagaya sa orphanage, baka hindi naman talaga siya nandito upang magturo sa mga bata. He just wants to be famous and to fish compliments.

I sigh. I was about to leave the bathroom when I saw Gertrude. Hinawakan niya ako sa kamay at hinila patungo sa washroom.

"Magkakilala kayo ni Revaz?" paunang tanong niya sa akin.

Bumuntong-hininga ako. "Do I even need to say it again?"

Inirapan niya ako. "Of course! Revaz is... well... my colleague. And you're my friend. Siyempre kailangan ko iyon na malaman."

I laughed. Is Revaz Montague that special? "I don't think that it does matter. Wala namang malaking contribution si Revaz Montague sa buhay ko."

Aside sa isa siyang two-faced at mukhang pera na lalaki, wala na akong ibang alam tungkol sa kaniya.

"But how did you two meet accidentally? Saan kayo nagkakilala? Did you two have a conversation? About naman saan?" she started bombarding me with questions.

Why is she so interested? I look at her, malalaki ang mga mata niyang nakatingin sa akin.

Pinanliitan ko siya ng mata. Don't tell me... "Are you interested in him?"

Gertrude lips parted and she blinked repeatedly. Binitiwan niya ang kamay ko habang hindi makapaniwalang nakatingin sa akin. Bingo.

She has a crush on him. "So it's true," i said, as a matter-of-fact.

She bit her lower lip. Her blushing cheeks got even redder when I said that. "Nakakainis ka. Fortune teller ka ba noong past life mo? Letse!"

Hindi ko na naiwasang humalakhak. "Look at your face. Halatang-halata."

Pinandilatan niya ako ng mata. Somehow after hearing that confession from Gertrude, it made me feel bothered, a little. I know that it's because I found out what his true character really is. A two-faced. Looking innocent on the outside, but a beast on the inside. Lagi siyang nakangiti sa harap ng tao but he doesn't really mean it. Such a pretentious man. What comes out of his mouth is a lie. Magaling lamang siya mang-uto kaya nakukuha niya kaagad ang kiliti ng mga nasa paligid niya.

But that doesn't include me. I've never ever been swayed on his. And I know Gertrude, she may indeed feel such an attraction but that's just it. She has had so many flings before. Alam kong mawawala kaagad ang espesyal na nararamdaman niya kay Revaz Montague.
