Elijah's POV:
Guadalupe and I rushed to meet Fiona at the police station. When we arrived there, we see someone give Debbie and Fiona something to drink.
"Eli!" Debbie yelled when she saw me.
"Hey, Have you seen them?" I asked
"Not yet," Fiona said.
Soon enough, Tony walks out.
"Tony, did you see them?" Fiona asked.
"They're still in the back," Tony answered my sister.
"When can we see them?" I asked.
"If Lip's not charged as an adult, you can see them in court tomorrow," Tony answered.
"Charged as an adult?" Fiona's friend asked.
"He's 17. They may charge him with felony grand theft auto," Tony answered.
"No way Lip would steal a car, he's too smart. And Ian doesn't even drive," Fiona said.
"If they didn't steal it--" Tony started off.
"They didn't steal it," Fiona interrupted.
"If they didn't steal it, then they have to tell the detectives who gave them the car and agree to testify. If they don't give up a name, then Lip could do five years," Tony tells us before walking away.
"Now, who do we know has a new car every day?" I asked my sister, quietly and sarcastically.
"Are you implying that Steve had something to do with this?" Fiona asked me.
"I'm implying that it was Steve's car that Lip was driving and we all know that he steals cars for a living," I answered.
"I know that you don't like Steve, but you don't know that he gave them the car,"
"But you don't know that he did," I rebutted.
------------
"A lawyer? Why didn't you call me?" Veronica asked us, the next morning after Fiona and I stayed at the police station all night.
"Eli was there with Fiona after Jasmine brought Guadalupe and me here to sleep," Debbie answered.
"Who is Jasmine and where is Guadalupe if she stayed the night?" Veronica asked,
"One of the moms from Deb's school, she was there when the cops called. Gave us a ride," Fiona answered.
"Guadalupe wasn't feeling well when we got here, so she went home," I answered.
"You both were there all night?" Veronica asked us.
"Yeah, till they moved them downtown," Fiona answered.
"What about a lawyer?" Veronica asked us.
"Gave them a public defender for their first court appearance," I answered.
"Fuck that. We need a real one, not some just-out-of-law-school liberal do-gooder with a 2000 ghetto-kid caseload," Veronica tells us.
"She's right. My husband's public defender has never even met Clyde before the arraignment, then suggested he plead guilty to child molestation and child abuse," Veronica's and Kevin's foster kid said, which made everyone quiet.
"What about Dickie Day? He helped Marty with that arson thing," Kevin suggested.
"Marty got six years," Veronica said.
"Well, Tony says the judge might just release Ian to me, I mean, he doesn't have any priors," Fiona says.
"What about Lip?" Kevin asked.
