Maria reached into her drawer and pulled out a book, feeling a mix of sadness and nostalgia as she held it in her hands. It was her diary, a treasured collection of her innermost thoughts and fears.

As she opened the book, tears welled up in her eyes. The first page revealed a love confession from John, her husband. It was a poignant reminder of the deep love they once shared and the dreams they had for their future together. Maria couldn't help but giggle through her tears, remembering the excitement and joy she felt when she received that heartfelt letter. It was a precious memory from a time when their love seemed invincible.

Turning the pages, Maria's sobs intensified. She journeyed through the intimate passages that captured her hopes, her dreams, and her vulnerabilities. Each entry was a testament to her heartfelt emotions and the struggles she faced. Until she arrived at a particular page, the last entry from three years ago.

"Dear diary,

It's me again. I am filled with sadness. Devastated by the fact that I cannot have a child. The doctors have delivered the painful news that I have medical complications preventing me from giving birth. It feels as though my world is crumbling. I wish I had someone to confide in, to share my deepest thoughts. I feel so alone. Many of my friends have embraced motherhood, whil I remain an empty vessel.

I fear that one day, John might seek solace in the arms of another woman, a woman who can give him the child he desires. Despite his unwavering support and care over these past few years, I have noticed changes in him. Our intimacy has waned, our conversations have become brief, and he immerses himself in work. I even suggested adoption, but he refused. Although I try not to entertain the thought, a lingering suspicion of infidelity gnaws at me. Deep down, I want to believe he is faithful and would never betray me, as he promised.

I hope he remains true to his word."

Maria wiped away her tears, her laughter tinged with bitterness. "I guess I was mistaken. Everything I feared has become a painful reality."

She closed the diary, letting the weight of those words sink in. It was a heartbreaking realization that her deepest fears had materialized before her eyes. The once vibrant and trusting bond between her and John had been shattered by betrayal and the devastating revelation of his infidelity.

She opened her diary once again, her hand trembling as she gripped the pen tightly. The emotions inside her threatened to consume her, but she knew she needed an outlet for her thoughts. She began to write in a stream of consciousness, pouring her heart out onto the pages before her.

"Dear diary,

He cheated."

"Mum, this isn't fair." Maria said, tears streaming down her face.

"Life isn't fair, my dear. I strongly advise you to stay with John. You're not the first woman to be cheated on by her husband, and you won't be the last. If you leave, you'll never find a good man like John," her mother responded.

Maria was taken aback. How could her mother say something like this? She couldn't understand.

"Why are you saying this, Mum? How can you say such things?" Maria asked, her voice trembling.
