Arthur Leywin Pov
“Finally.” I sighed as I exited the council room.
Despite trying to get over everything as fast as possible it took half a day for the council to brief me on the current situation. Though there was no Alacryan fleet in sight from the shore of Sapin and the expedition in Beast Glades was going quite well. There were quite a few sightings of Alacryan’s in Elenoir trying to map the forest but it was taken care by the units patrolling the area since the operations in Beast Glades were going smoothly and Sapin was not in a risky position enough troops were able to deployed at Elenoir.
But the problem was Darv. It seems that all the damage I prevented from the other places was re directed at Darv since it was clear that approximately more than 20% of Darv was now under the control of Alacrya the area under the Alacryan control was the province of Burim which bordered Vildorial and southern part of the grand mountains.
The Earthborn Institute was converted to a fortress and the entire city was acting as the main defence point to stop Darv. Since most of the battles were taking place underground it was next to impossible to use the siege engines or the fire salt weapons that I designed making these battles more complicated compared to Beast Glades which have more options for defence.
All the time atleast two Lances were stationed in Darv to maintain the frontline, Vildorial have become such an important location for us since it was closest to the fire salt mines. If the front lines at Vildorial falls Dicathen would lose a good amount of its fire salt supplies which will make battle at Beast Glades more difficult. Which makes even less sense.
‘Why Alacryan’s have not yet started their advance.’ Sylvie spoke out the question in my head.
‘Yes, no matter what I think it doesn’t make sense. From what we learned from the council from when Alacryans conquered the southern Darv they have not made many attempts to advance further but to create a stalemate at Vildorial.’ I nodded at her. ‘They’ve been using Guerilla tactics to damage the Dicathen Army regularly but are not actively trying to advance further even though they can deal a heavy blow to Dicathen if they took over the fire salt mines.’
‘I tried to scout the area to get some information but with no luck. The retainers are there but they are also not actively charging like in Beast Glades, instead just wiping out any units attempting to retake Burim or the area near Grand Mountains.’ Regis reported on the issue.
‘It’s very unlikely for Agrona to make such moves.’ I presented my thoughts mentally.
Since we were still in the floating castle and there were servants and guards around, this was the best way for us to talk with each other.
‘Either he got senile and lost his head from all the indirect hits we gave him for all this time or..’
‘He’s stalling for time.’ I finished for Regis.‘That is possible, do you mean he was waiting to get Asuras out of the war to avoid any variables since he failed to get anything meaningful in this war till now?’ Sylvie questioned curiously.
‘That may be a part of it but I’m sure that’s not all of it. For Agrona this war is a small stepping stone and in the grand scheme of things doesn't hold much importance for an Asura who already lived thousands of years dragging this war for a few decades doesn’t hold much meaning.’ I explained. ‘If I have to guess he’s probably trying to study and understand Dicathen right now?’
‘Dicathen?’ Sylvie asked with a confused look at which I nodded.
‘If you look at him from Agrona’s perspective Dicathen became way too advanced and competent in too short a time even if he assumed that the operations in Beast Glades and planting of Spies and attack on Xyrus’s failures were under the margin of error. The fact that Dicathen's current defence position and technology is much more advanced than what was reported to him by his spies.’ I explained.
