Robin had been quite self destructive in her relationship with Nancy. She didn't believe that she was good enough for the once 'most desired girl in Hawkins' and she planned to destroy herself before the status could.
The whole scenario was so obviously too good to be true. She knew that Nancy wouldn't of actually gone for anyone like her, especially when there were many better choices- so, the clear answer was to cause hurt before others could.
It was an argument that had pushed her over the edge- a petty scrap over something completely irrelevant- but, it had made her decide to prepare for the worst. She had distanced herself, cut ties with everyone involved.
That whole time, she had no idea that Nancy thought the world of her, and would never think of her as anything less- pariah status or not.
No one was ever viewed like that in their group.
Ever.
And she wished that Robin would realise that.
