It had all happened so fast, Raina barely had a time to think and curse Kaz Brekker before she was submerged under the water, his gloved hand over her jaw, forcing her to bite down on the baleen he had given her earlier. One second they were walking down the never ending corridors, Kuwei, son of the man they were here to 'kidnap' and Nina now joining them, the next they were being instructed to jump into a dark hole that they had no idea where it ended up. Despite her protests, Kaz had forced her inside, not having any time to bicker whether this was the correct choice or not.

As they fell through the water, she felt his grip slip away and panic hit her, where had he gone? He was within arms reach but despite how much she clawed at the water, she was never able to reach him on time. Kaz was so close to her and yet he was still out of reach from her. Raina couldn't explain the desperation inside her as she fought against the force pulling her down, she had to get to him.

It seemed her attempts were futile, she couldn't reach him in time.

Crashing against land, she threw her body on its side, coughing out the water that had entered her body. As she got her lungs to work properly, she recalled the absence of him and turned around, meeting emptiness. Puling her body off the ground, she was met with a wave of dizziness causing her to pause for a second, allowing her vision to unblur. Once she was back into focus, she noticed Matthias was dragging a limp body from the water. It took a mere glance at his face to recognise who it was.
