Mina's POV

My phone rings, and it was Chaeyoung, my best friend.

I answered, "Hi cub, what's up?"

"Minari!!! Remember that head director position I always dreamed for?"

"Of course. Wait... did you get it???"

"Nope, another colleague got it." she said with a sad tone.

"Oh, it's ok, Chae, you're still one of the best employees. Maybe it's just not your time yet."

"Just kidding, of course I got it!!!" She cheers and laughs.

I smile ear to ear, "Really?? Congrats, Chae. I'm so proud of you!! It's what you've always talked to me about. We should celebrate!!"

"Yeah, so I was thinking of tomorrow night, just the two of us. My colleagues wanted to eat dinner later, and I know you don't want to be around a lot of people, especially with others you don't really know."

"Sounds perfect. See you Chaeng call me when you get home!!"

"Yeah, see you, penguin!"

I end the call and smile again. It's all she ever wanted at her work. There hasn't been once that she complained about work like a normal human because she was always motivated to get that position.

She knows me so well that I'd rather go out at times with only the two of us rather than a huge group of friends.

I'm quite the introvert, but she's been my one and only best friend since we were kids. Her mom is really great friends with my mom and so goes to the two of us.

Now that she got that position, I promised her a really nice art supply set she always wanted that was finely crafted from Italy. She loves drawing and painting as her hobby while I play video games in the same room.

I went to my closet and opened the last drawer, and pulled out the box. I wiped off a little dust that formed, and luckily, the ribbon and 'congratulations' tag was still fine and intact.

It has been waiting there for a year since I knew it won't be long when Chaeyoung finally got the position she had always dreamed of.

[The next night]

Chaeyoung's POV

I took a taxi now to the bar that Mina and I always drink. It became our favorite bar starting when we were 25 because we weren't minors anymore, and we can look out for ourselves.

When I arrived, I immediately went to our favorite spot near the bartender, and I reserved a seat for her.

"Oh Chaeyoung-ah, it been a while!!! Is Mina coming?" Jihyo, the bartender who became our friend here, asked.

"Yeah, she'll be here soon."

She nods, "I'll prepare you both the usual then."

"Thanks."

Not long when I gasped when something surprised me from behind, and it was no other than Mina.

She laughed, and her gummy smile was exposed. "Having fun?" I asked.

"Fun as if you're the one who called me here to drink one the spot before even having dinner!" She said, making me laugh.

Just in time, Jihyo served us our favorite whiskey, and Mina said hi to her.

"So what brings you two here today? Another problem to rant or a celebration? You two only come here between those reasons." She asks. She knows us so well already.
