Chapter 31

Jiang Baiqi was so nervous that his heart pounded, watching the red dot representing a beetle rapidly approaching the green dot representing a dragonfly on the screen. This speed was already fast for an insect, but at this moment, it seemed so slow. Jiang Baiqi regretted not making the dragonfly bigger so that he could install a more powerful engine and make it fly faster.

After some difficulty, the beetle finally reached the location of the dragonfly and found it in a hotel. The dragonfly was placed on the table, and Song Juyao was not in the room. No wonder the sound suddenly disappeared.

The beetle circled around a few times and finally found a slightly open window to fly in. Inside, Jiang Baiqi noticed something was wrong.

Song Juyao was taking a shower and wasn't startled when she saw the beetle flying in through the mirror. The beetle seemed startled by her and turned around to fly away. In its panic, it hit the window sill first, then fell to the ground and spun several times on all fours. It then climbed up, stumbled, and made its escape.

Song Juyao observed the series of actions by the beetle and burst into laughter. She could almost imagine Jiang Baiqi huddled up on a chair, his head buried between his knees, and smoke almost coming out of the top of his head.

With a smile still on her face, Song Juyao quickly turned her head back and continued bathing leisurely. The system automatically blocked any pictures involving privacy and mature content, and this setting couldn't be changed by the program group. The live broadcast room must be in a state of white mosaic at this time, so naturally, she couldn't hear any sound.

Song Juyao raised her head and felt the slight shock of water droplets hitting her skin. This slight pain made her more alert and helped her think. She knew that the beetle wouldn't fly away; it would always be by her side. The corners of her mouth curled up, her open eyes were clear but devoid of warmth, like a frozen lake.

About two-thirds of the live broadcast time should have passed by now, and the live broadcast had been going on for half a month, as stipulated by the court. After all, the show couldn't be entirely for entertainment purposes. Setting a time limit provided the program group with a boundary; they couldn't endlessly torture the judged in front of everyone. So, when the specified time was reached, the first episode would end, and the live broadcast room would automatically close. The program group could decide when to open the live channel, but they couldn't control when it would close. The judges would also leave the virtual world when the channel closed.

This aspect couldn't be changed by the program group. Therefore, in the last third of the time, if the program group didn't want to lose face and end the episode as a failure, they could only race against time to force her to show her ugly human nature before the live broadcast channel closed. So, what kind of design would they come up with?

Clearly, a dangerous horror plan that would force her into a difficult choice would be the most appropriate. Kidnapping? Yes, kidnapping. They could make her face multiple-choice questions after kidnapping—either let the other person die or choose her own death and let the others live.

Children couldn't be involved in this, as dedicating oneself to children would make many audiences understand and be moved. Humans were willing to dedicate their genes to the continuation and survival of future generations. Therefore, if they were to kidnap an adult, the audience might think, "Why should I sacrifice myself? Why don't you sacrifice yourself?" If she chose to sacrifice herself, many audiences would feel uncomfortable, thinking of her as a weak person with no backbone. If she chose to let others die, the audience would also feel uncomfortable...

That person—the perverted murderer who killed her in the previous episode—would appear at this time.

It was truly exciting.
