Chapter 126

National Security Hazard Elimination Section, Section 0...

Lin Weiqi's heart raced for a moment, and a single thought dominated his mind—could it be that such a department truly existed in the country?

The notion of a 0th Section had always been a legend. No one had ever laid eyes on anyone associated with the 0th Section, yet the legend surrounding it persisted. This phantom presence had even made appearances in numerous blockbuster movies. Invariably, its depiction was one of a tall, enigmatic, and awe-inspiring figure.

The reality differed somewhat. The personnel count of the actual 0th Section was rather modest; it consisted solely of Jiang Baiqi and the one who worked odd jobs for him. They couldn't even be classified as official employees of the 0th Section.

Still, Lin Weiqi couldn't doubt the legitimacy of Jiang Baiqi's claim. Beyond the credentials, Jiang Baiqi's eyes exuded an air that aligned perfectly with the 0th Section's aura.

—A division solely concerned with the bigger picture, ready to sacrifice a few innocents for the greater good.

At that moment, Si Jiao emerged.

"What's going on?"

Lin Weiqi spoke cautiously, "Someone from the National Security Hidden Hazard Elimination Section, Section 0."

"What? Section 0?" Si Jiao was baffled, but she comprehended the urgency in Lin Weiqi's gaze. She turned to inform Song Juyao.

Lin Weiqi had no option but to usher Jiang Baiqi inside.

The 0th Section was effectively the government. Did they truly draw the government's attention? What awaited them now?

Unease gnawed at Lin Weiqi, for Jiang Baiqi radiated an aura of danger that he couldn't ignore.

Meanwhile, Si Jiao had swiftly approached Song Juyao and conveyed the identity of their visitor.

[National Security Hidden Hazard Elimination Section? That sounds pretty impressive!]

[Hey, hey, I've got a theory. Could this department have been responsible for the explosion at the courthouse?]

[Seems likely! Is it now Song Juyao's turn?]

[If that's the case, then I'm truly amazed. The government sure knows how to make a statement.]

[I wonder if Song Juyao will end up getting eliminated too.]

At the sight of Jiang Baiqi, Bai Qiangqiu immediately exclaimed, "It's him! I remember his clothes! It's definitely him! Did you all see? I wasn't lying!"

"Shut up, you idiot," Si Jiao snapped, muffling his mouth with a cloth and booting him away.

Jiang Baiqi remained remarkably composed. No one could perceive the slight elevation in his heart rate. His gaze was fixed on the mysterious girl seated at the dining table. He wondered if she would recognize him as the assassin who had nearly killed her the previous night. Probably not, he mused. He had changed clothes since then; she wouldn't remember him.

His face was just not one that would stick in anyone's memory.

Glancing at Si Jiao and Lin Weiqi, Song Juyao instructed, "Leave us."

Though they appeared concerned, the pair respectfully exited the villa, Bai Qiangqiu in tow.

Song Juyao and Jiang Baiqi were the only occupants left.

Jiang Baiqi noted the half-filled bowl of rice in Song Juyao's dish. It seemed she had barely touched her food. A hint of irritation flitted across him—perhaps he should have arrived a little later.
