The Ravenclaw party is tonight. I really hadn't planned on going, but the Marauders had ambushed me as soon as I entered the common room. James was the one leading the ambush, of course.
"You have to go tonight."
I roll my eyes at Sirius, "I need to study."
"Come on, you need to live a little," James says.
"I have lived, twenty-one years to be exact."
Remus laughs, "It'll be fun. You can leave the second you begin to feel uncomfortable."
His kind eyes convince me. "Fine."
The boys cheer. Peter and James share a high-five while I roll my eyes. The four boys wave as I walk up the stairs to the dormitories. When I walked in, I saw that my three friends had already gotten dressed. They all are wearing pretty dresses and flawless makeup.
"Let's get you dolled up," Addie says, grabbing my hand.
She pushes me down into the chair in front of the vanity. Marlene grabs a makeup remover wipe and begins to scrub my face. I push her hands away, "I'm already wearing makeup."
"Yes, but you need more. Mascara, foundation, and lipstick aren't enough for a Hogwarts party."
Lily calls out to me, "Do you not own a single dress?"
She stands in front of my drawers wearing a look of distress. I pop my fingers nervously, "I didn't think I would need one for school."
"You can borrow one of mine," says Marlene, as she does my eyeshadow.
After a few minutes, Marlene steps back, "You can look in the mirror now."
I open my eyes and stare at my reflection in shock, "Holy shit, you did an amazing job."
"All I did was brush color on your face to enhance your already existing beauty."
My face burns at her words, "Thank you."
She walks over to her bed and tosses me a dress. It's a black silk dress, much shorter and tighter than I would normally wear. I hide behind the room divider and quickly change into it.
"I'm not sure about this," I say wearily.
Addie steps behind the divider, looking me up and down. Her red lips are pulled up into a smile, "You look hot."
She grabs my hand and drags me over to Marlene and Lily. The four of us look at each other with smiles. Lily adjusts Marlene's straps, "Not to sound like a Marauder, but I think we may just be the hottest people in school."
We walk downstairs, and I keep my hand on the handrail in fear of falling down. It's been a while since I last wore heels.
I manage to step off the staircase without falling and follow the girls to the exit. The Marauders stand in front of the door talking, but look over at us when we get closer. James stares at Lily in amazement, "You look good, Evans."
"You all look good," Remus adds.
I stand next to Addie now, looking at the boys in front of us. James wears black pants with a white button-up, a loose tie, and his sleeves rolled up. Peter is wearing jeans and a faded band shirt. Remus wears brown trousers with a white button-up and a brown vest. While Sirius wears black pants, a black shirt, and a leather jacket.
Their personalities show through their choice of outfits, and it compliments their good looks. Remus is the first to notice me. His brown eyes look me up and down with shock. He makes eye contact with me, and I feel my face heat up.
