Really Annoying

I stare down at the bowl of cereal in front of me. "I think I'm gonna puke."

James smacks his hand on my back, "You'll be fine!"

Remus sits in front of me, watching me with concerned eyes. I give him a nervous smile, "I probably won't fall."

"That doesn't make me feel any better."

"Moony, you're more nervous than (Y/n) is!" Sirius says, pulling the taller boy into a headlock.

"We've won all of our matches so far, Remy boy. There's no need to be worried," James adds.

Remus finally gets out of Sirius's hold, "This is your first match against Slytherin. What if Regulus goes after (Y/n)?"

"Then I kick his ass," I say, shrugging.

"That's my girl!" James yells, pulling me into a hug.

Whispers begin to fill the dining hall. Everyone's eyes are on us.

"I thought she was dating Remus?"

"No way, she's definitely dating James, just look at them!"

I shove James away, "Now everyone thinks we're dating."

"Good, maybe it'll make Evans jealous."

James kisses my cheek and jumps up, dodging my swing. He laughs as he begins running away, and I chase after him.

As I'm rounding the corner, someone steps out in front of me. I skid to a stop, glaring at James, who keeps running. The green Quidditch jersey is the first thing I notice.

"You should watch where you're going."

"Why do you cut the corners so sharply? A normal person would walk a safe distance away from the wall," I counter.

Regulus raises an eyebrow, "Why do you pay attention to the way I walk?"

I stare at him, completely flabbergasted. This isn't how I expected the conversation to go. "You're delusional."

"I'll see you on the field."

I begin walking away, walking backwards to face him. "The only thing you'll be seeing is the back of my head when I grab the snitch."

He raises his eyebrows and smiles in amusement. I stumble at the sight of it, questioning if I'm hallucinating.

"Nice one, babe."

I turn around and punch James, who is grinning behind me. He laughs and begins walking away. When I turn back to Regulus, he's already returned to his emotionless face.

"You should smile more," I say before running after James.

My face burns. Why the hell did I say that?

My eyes scan the sky above us. It's been twenty minutes since the match started. The Slytherins are playing dirty, but we're ahead of them.

"It's cloudy today!"

I look over to see Regulus hovering next to me, his green eyes staring above us.

"It's supposed to rain!" I yell back.

He's been near me the whole match. Anytime I move, he follows me. I'm sure it's just his way of trying to steal the snitch from me. Although, talking during the match is weird.

"What's your motive?!"

He looks back at me, "What do you mean?!"

"People don't usually talk about the weather during a Quidditch match!"

He looks away for a moment but meets my eyes again. "I suppose you're right!"

Something shiny zooms past him, and I immediately chase after it.

"Gryffindor's seeker, (Y/n) (L/n) is on the move! But Slytherin's seeker, Regulus Black, is right behind her!"

I ignore the commentary and focus on the golden ball. My hand reaches out, but the ball darts to the left. I move with it, pushing my broom to go faster. My fingers graze it when I hear screaming.

I look to the side just in time to see a bludger heading my way. It hits me in the ribs, and then I'm falling.

"Shit, shit!" I yell, reaching for my broom.

The broom moves further, almost like something is pulling it away. This isn't how I wanted to die. Dying during a Quidditch game? Doesn't sound very fun.

The ground is nearing, I can see James flying towards me. He'll be too late. I close my eyes and wait for the impact.

Regulus pulls me to him, trying to slow us down. He manges to slow us down, but not enough. The two of us land on the ground roughly, coughing as we hold our sides.

"(Y/n)!" I hear James yell.

I look over to my left, staring into the green eyes of Regulus Black. He watches as I lift my hand up, revealing the golden snitch.

The crowd cheers loudly, and I grin at Regulus. He lets out a breath, "You really are annoying."

"That was bloody amazing!" James says, kneeling next to me.

He helps me sit up, and I look over to see Regulus sitting up as well. There's a large tear in his shirt, revealing the bloody skin on his shoulder.

"Thank you."

He gives me a quick glance, "Don't mention it."

Mulciber is kneeling down next to Regulus now, his eyes narrowed in anger. "That wasn't part of the plan, Black."

"I never agreed to the plan," Regulus says, standing up.

James pulls me to my feet and watches the two of them. "Plan? What the hell are you talking about?"

Mulciber ignores James and grabs the front of Regulus's jersey, shaking him as he speaks. "You trying to play hero now?"

"Sorry, attempted murder isn't something I want on my record," Regulus says.

Mulciber lets go of him, stepping back to swing. I use what little strength I have left to shove him back. James steps in front of me, grabbing Mulciber by his shirt. "You son of a bitch, you tried to kill her!"

By now the rest of our teams are surrounding us, ready to fight. The professors push through the crowd, Sterling gets in between James and Mulciber.

"Let him go, James."

James listens and steps away, breathing heavily. "They did it on purpose, they could've killed her!"

"We will handle this ourselves, Mr. Potter. But for now, go celebrate your victory," McGonagall says.

The pain in my side increases. I bend over, grabbing my side as I close my eyes tightly.

"Are you okay?"

Regulus's hand hovers over my shoulder, but he pulls away when I stand up.

"Professor Sterling, please help Mr. Black and Ms. (L/n) to the hospital wing."

Regulus and I follow the professor. As we get around the bleachers, someone comes running over.

"Not now, Mr. Lupin. You can visit later."

Remus stops, glaring at Sterling. I wink at Remus and he shakes his head, "Right. I guess I'll wait then."
