With Amber and Sam on much better terms, Amber and Tara felt more comfortable spending time at the Carpenter house than before. Afterall, there were still two Ghostface killers on the loose in Woodsboro, although the attacks had seemingly gone temporarily dormant, so the two lovers going everywhere in pairs was not something Sam or Ms. Carpenter had a problem with.

Amber was often left home alone while her parents were out traveling to attend parties or for business trips, her own parents thought it wasn't safe for her to be home alone until the Ghostfaces were brought to justice. Ms. Carpenter and Amber's parents agreed it was best for her to stay with Tara's family whenever she would be left home alone on these occasions. Amber's parents, despite largely not being present in her life, paid for any of her expenses such as the groceries, so her staying over at the Carpenter's house wasn't a financial burden to them. The Freeman parents were away so much (they weren't keen on staying around due to the Ghostface killers on the loose) that Amber ended up living with Carpenters and returned to her house only to have dinner with her parents or to go shopping with her mother when they returned home for a few days.

The Carpenter house had a spare room for Amber which she did use to store some clothes and extra things but Amber chose to sleep in Tara's bedroom (of course). Tara already had a sizable amount of Amber's wardrobe in her bedroom before she moved in, taking as many hoodies from the taller girl as she let her. Tara would also wear her sweatpants or pajama pants when going to bed with one of her t-shirts, which were oversized and baggy on the smaller girl.

If it was a big adjustment for Sam having Amber living with them, it was an even bigger one for Amber. The Carpenter household was laid back, while Amber was used to things being formal. Amber previously lived in a mansion, while the Carpenter's lived in a simple two story house in the suburbs. Amber's parents had a chef cook dinner for them, while Ms. Carpenter would toss a few hotdogs in a frying pan and call it dinner.

Also there were also small differences that Sam and Ms. Carpenter would soon learn, such as Amber not eating pork (her and her family are Jewish plus she also thought the smell of pork was gross anyways).

Whenever Amber and Tara went out to eat somewhere Tara would always ask the waiter/ waitress if whatever Amber was thinking about ordering contained any pork and would add, "because my girlfriend doesn't eat pork," which Amber always found adorable. About a week into her stay with the Carpenter family, Amber and Tara came home for dinner which was cooked by Sam that included a roasted ham, a caesar salad full of bits of bacon, and a baked potato. It wasn't that Sam wanted to be mean or anything; she simply had forgotten Amber didn't eat pork. Amber quietly picked at her potato during dinner and shared a few facts about how gross pigs are such as they are one of the few animals that eat their own feces.

The next day, a Saturday morning, Amber woke up early and prepared an elaborate breakfast; blueberry pancakes with butter and maple syrup, an omelet full of vegetables like peppers, onions, and tomatoes, and she even cut up a banana to put little slices on the side of the plate with some strawberries. She set the table and called the two girls down for breakfast (Ms. Carpenter was away). When Tara and Sam came down for breakfast they saw the table had already been set, with Amber and Tara having their own plates of the elaborate breakfast while Sam got a small plate with two slices of cold toast that wasn't even buttered.

Despite the occasional fighting, Sam was able to see another side of Amber; how silly Amber could be sometimes when she was with Tara, and even fun to be around? (Sam never thought she would think this before).

Sam returned home one night from a late shift on a Saturday, with her mom out with friends, to find Amber and Tara dancing on the dining room table blasting "Last Friday Night" by Katy Perry (which Amber swore she wasn't a Katy Perry fan). This is a side of Amber the rest of the friends seldom saw, only getting glimpses of it on rare occasions. Sam of course took off her shoes and got on the table, with the three of them now dancing together. Mindy would have never imagined before that Sam would also get a turn dancing on tables with those two. The girls danced together for another 30 minutes, as they sang along with the music, made each other laugh with silly dance moves (Amber and Tara were surprised Sam knew how to twerk properly) and waved their arms in the air pretending they were at a rave dance party.
