(Y/N) sighed, feeling some of the adrenaline leave them as the team split apart after the celebration. They shook out their non-dominant leg, already knowing that they were going to be sore the next morning. It felt exhilarating to be enjoying the sport now as they cursed themselves for not playing all these past years.

"Nice goal." Oliver said, pressing a hand into their unkempt (H/C) hair. They smiled, shaking the defender off as they refocused on the game.

"It was nothing, really." They mumbled, embarrassed that even Oliver, the player that they'd known for so long, complimented them, "I used to make those shots all the time back in Germany..."

At the mention of their former country, they didn't wince or shrink away this time, only accepting it as part of their past. After all, it wasn't like they'd ever even see their old team again, right? It was better to focus on the present and their game.

"Well, keep it up, kiddo!" Oliver chuckled, nudging them before returning to his position, followed by a very angry "Who are you calling 'kiddo'?' from (Y/N). The game restarted soon, but not before the Blue Lock team made their last and final substitution of Barou Shoei, an angry looking man with an intimidating aura.

(Y/N) looked him up and down, noting his muscles and strong build. He was most definitely the 'power' type player and if Blue Lock was substituting him now, he must a sort of joker card or desperate measures striker.

Isagi took the kickoff now, passing to Rin who then passed over to Hiori, the boy with a keen eye for open slots. (Y/N) played it more laid back on defence, letting Oliver and his team do most of the work.

They were sure the shift back to offence would be rather soon, but something unexpected happened. Barou, the new guy, swooped down upon the field like a lion, taking the ball from his own teammate, Isagi. (Y/N) blinked, wondering what he was doing as the spiky haired striker tore down the field.

They retreated slightly, wondering if the team could use support. Darai went to stop Barou next, but he failed, falling bait to the sporadic and unnatural moved the newcomer brought to the table. (Y/N)'s eyes narrowed, calculating what the new variable of Barou brought to the game.

Barou played selfishly, not even looking to pass to his own teammates as he hogged the ball, making a risky shot far from the net. If his technique had been better, (Y/N) was sure he would've made the goal, but the position he was in made it ricochet off the goalpost, bouncing into the clutches of Yukimiya Kenyu.

The arrival of Barou had destabilized the field completely, leaving Yukimiya, a boy with glasses who was an excellent dribbler–or so (Y/N) had observed–a visible path to the goal. Using speed, technique and flow, the striker weaved around defenders like it was nothing, except... he was too predictable.

(Y/N), the mastermind, saw through his path the moment he took it, accurately predicting when and where he would shoot. To the blind eye, a shot to the top right corner would be the best course of action, but, no, the center forward saw the truth.

Putting on a burst of speed, they intercepted the ball on its way to the left corner of the net. Using their left leg, they managed to skim the ball, making it whiz off course, only to be hit by Aiku, blocking the shot.

From one look at the defender, (Y/N) could tell that he was reaching a similar epiphany to them. The game was finally hitting its climax as multiple players achieved the phenomenon 'flow,' guiding them to greater heights.

The ball soared away and landed, unfortunately, in Rin's Itoshi's clasp. The ace of Blue Lock dribbled the ball towards the net, easily sidestepping multiple defenders before finally coming face to face with Oliver Aiku.
