Here and Now: Hyojeong Diaries

Chapter 12

Hyoseop loaded their luggage into the back of the car as Sejeong sat in the front passenger seat, carrying Doenjang on her lap. 

"Go Go!"  Sejeong said cheerfully as she fastened her seatbelt.

Hyoseop was heading to Gimje with Sejeong to visit her parents.  She had not seen them since August.  She also wanted to drop off Doenjang with her mom before she leaves for her Asia tour in less than a week.

Doenjang was happily staring out the window with her tongue sticking out.  Sejeong lowered the window so that they could both feel the cool autumn breeze on their faces.

"Finally we get to go on this road trip together. We have been talking about it for so long!"  Hyoseop said with a smile.

"Yes I'm really excited!  Finally you can see our house and meet the people in my home town."  She said with a big smile. "Be prepared to eat and drink a lot!"

"Yes, I'm sure your mom and your aunt prepared a big feast for us!"  He said.

He turned on the dash camera in front of him, "By the way, should we start recording our video?"

"Wait, let me fix my hair first."  She said as she checked her reflection in the mirror, "OK, I'm ready."

The two of them had been brainstorming ideas for a short vlog for his October fan meeting.  He was also debating whether to start a youtube channel to show snippets of his daily life, similar to Sejeong's Clean Cam channel.   In the end, they had decided to create a video with a carpool karaoke theme.  They felt that fans would enjoy seeing the two of them sing together again since their last viral duet video of Love Maybe last year.  

"Hello everyone!" Hyoseop said to the camera.  "Today, we will be going on a drive again.  But this time, I have a special guest next to me."  

He adjusted the zoom on his camera so that it was now capturing all three of them in one frame.  Doenjang looked straight ahead at the dash cam.  She has become a pro in front of the camera, just like her mom. 

"Annyeonghaseyo yeoleobun!"  Sejeong said with her emoji smile, "Thanks for inviting me, oppa, and long time no see.  So I understand we are not just going for a drive today?"

"Yes.  It's been a while."  He said.  "By the way, do you know it's been almost a year and a half since we last sang together?"

"Yes I can't believe how quickly time flies."  She said.

"So I know your album recently came out." He said, "Seriously, all of your songs are crazy good, Sejeongie. Jjinjjaro!"  He gave her a big thumbs up. "Do you mind singing a few lines of your songs for everyone?"

"Thanks, oppa."   She then sang a few verses of her songs Voyage and Top or Cliff.   They then sang verses of her song Jenga together with Hyoseop doing the rap.  He was surprisingly good at it.

 "Wow.  As expected from God Sejeong."  He nodded proudly, gently clapping his hands as they stopped at a traffic light.

"Actually I saw some videos of your fan meetings. I also heard the OST from your last drama.  Your singing was really good, oppa."  She continued, patting his shoulder, "So, should we sing a duet together now? There is actually an old song of yours that I really really like."

"OK, shall we?"  Hyoseop said as the music for the song called Spring 니가 보여 came on.  It was a song he sang with Z.Hera when he was starring in a web drama called Top Management five years ago.

They started to sing the first few verses (English translation of the song lyrics and music video below):

Hyoseop:  You look beautiful today as usual. I quietly say to myself every time I see you.  You make me blush but I blame the weather.  I feel like a fool, baby yeah.  So nervous I laugh at you for nothing.  Getting nervous, I look away.  I gaze at your back as you walk away and think to myself, I hope that everything will be okay?
