The night was going far better than I would've thought just a few hours ago. Newt and Minho had introduced me to most of the gladers but I struggled to remember a lot of their names. Which I felt a tad bit bad for but given the fact that there're at least 30 of them who were all introduced to me within the span of an hour and a half I figure it's to be expected.

Currently I was sitting at a picnic table with Zart, Winston, Clint, and Jeff. Zart was keeper of the Track-hoes, aka the gardeners. Clint and Jeff I'd already briefly met during my tour, they're the Med-jacks. And Winston is the keeper of the Slicers, which are the butchers. I can already tell I'm sure as hell not gonna be spending my days cutting up animals. None of the other jobs sound all that bad, apart from Sloppers which I will only become if I suck at everything else.

I think I'd rather run around all day in that god forsaken Maze than clean up after everyone in the Glade. All the boys were really nice so far, especially Clint and Jeff, so I suppose being a Med-jack sounds pretty nice. Plus, how often does someone actually get hurt here? Besides Builders and Slicers injuring themselves every so often. And even then you just clean and bandage it then tell them to suck it up. Okay maybe I wouldn't be the best Med-jack.

Being a Track-hoe wouldn't be terrible either, Newt works in the gardens too so at least I'd have someone to talk to while I work. The only other jobs are Baggers, Builders and Cooks. According to Winston the Baggers are kinda creepy, which is rich coming from the guy who slices up animals all day. Cooking with Frypan sounds great, although he nor I would trust me to not steal food while cooking.

So I guess that main possibilities for my job are Runner, Track-hoe, Builder, and maybe Med-Jack. No one has really talked about Runners much though, it's kinda weird actually. I'd didn't realize I'd been zoning out until I saw pale fingers, snapping in my face. "Hello, earth to Greenie"

It was Clint. "Oh sorry, zoned out. What'd you say?" I ask, turning away slightly, letting a curtain of my dark brown hair hide my pink cheeks. The four boys chuckle, and I hear a familiar voice from behind me. "He asked if ya fancy anyone yet?"

Newt comes and sits across from me, squeezing onto the bench with Clint and Jeff. Before answering I take a deep breath, straightening my face and looking Newt in the eye. "Not really, all you guys are fucking Shanks." I joke, taking another sip of the dark amber liquid infront of me. It still felt weird using the Glade slang but I figured I may as well get used to it.

A few shucks and ouches came from but boys but I only chuckled. We continued talking for a little while longer and I couldn't believe how much I was enjoying myself. That was until I felt a cold hand clamp down on my shoulder. I turn around to see one of the Gladers I hadn't been introduced to. "Hey wha-" I stopped when he clamped down on my shoulder harder, nails digging into the sensitive skin. I pry his hand off and stand up from the bench.

The guy appears to be around 5'11, he had long dirty blonde hair that just barely reached his shoulders. He looked like he could be a bit drunk but it was honestly kinda hard to tell. "I was just wondering if you wanted to come have some fun with me and my buddies." He hiccuped at the end, proving my previous assessment to be correct. I didn't like the way he said that so I took a cautious step back from him. "Ya know I think I'm fine here actually, thank you though." I say, trying to remain as nice as possible.

The guy takes a step forward so that he's even closer than he was before. "Are you sure about that sweetie?" Without realizing, my face had strewn up in disgust as a chill ran down my spine. I looked over at my friend's and saw them watching the interaction. They all looked like they were ready to step in at any given moment so I take a deep breath and face the creepy guy again.

"No yeah I'm sure." I nodded awkwardly, taking a small step back to put some space between us. Before I knew it he was reaching forward to grab me, I don't know what happened but I panicked and grabbed the blade from my boot. Pushing the creep flat against the table on his back with the knife against his neck, already drawing some blood. He put his hands up in surrender but I still dug the blade a bit deeper into his throat, blood was now dripping down my knife onto my hand and his shirt.
