Note: Talbott's perspective at the Great Hall

A glimpse of each other

As he was welcomed by his new fellow housemates, Talbott Winger sat at the end of the Ravenclaw table near the doors of the Great Hall, his two-toned hair falling into his striking orange eyes as he absentmindedly watched the sorting ceremony continue on. As the Sorting Hat began its sorting of a new first year, he couldn't help but cast a curious glance at the other new students, wondering who he might be seeing more often in class. He just wanted to know who he might have to avoid.

"L/N, Y/N."

Gasps and whispers replaced the low and excited murmurs as the name L/N was announced.

Jacob L/N. Talbott had heard stories linked to that name, but he'd never had the chance to know more about any of the animosity some of the other students were harbouring.

His gaze fell upon a figure of a girl with long, silvery blonde hair, a stark contrast to the sea of black, yellow and brown ones. Truly a sight that would make it harder to look away.

She stepped up to the sorting hat, and Talbott's eyes locked onto her briefly before her attention was snag away by the ancient item; it was rare for him to find someone interesting as if viewing a unique species of a bird. He watched intently, bored, as the hat seemed to take long for its decision, its brim twitching in contemplation. Finally, the hat called out loud its decision, and she was sorted into Ravenclaw.

Talbott couldn't help but raise his eyebrow, a curious expression on his face. There was something different about this other first year, something that set them apart from the others. As the applause and cheers erupted from the students of the new house, he leaned in slightly, contemplating what adventures might lie ahead now that she, Jacob's sibling had joined the ranks of Hogwarts.

Talbott Winger had a feeling that the presence of Jacob's younger sibling would be years of unexpected events, his intuition says so. That's why, this is the person he would probably have to keep an eye on, just so he would know when to steer clear when the time came. If anyone would ask why, well, just because he wants a normal school life and he doesn't want to do anything with whatever she might bring for their school year.

At least just on the background. For he only had one thing on his mind, his solitude. Nothing else.

To be continued.

A/N: Well, I don't know about that... There's no such thing as solitude.
