Mackenzie's POV
New Year's Eve at magkakasama kami ngayon sa resort.
"Did we end the year with a bang?" Napapaisip na tanong ni Eli while drinking his alcohol.
"I know I'll end my year banging," tumatawa kong sabi at nag-apir naman kami ni Jay.
"Naknampota netong dalawang 'to, ano ako mag-new year na naiinggit?" nabubwisit na sabi ni Eli sa amin at inirapan ko lang naman siya. Bahala siya dyan mamatay sa inggit.
"I feel like dapat sinundo mo na sila Claire. Isn't in dangerous to drive?" Tanong ni Ady kay Jay.
"Mag girls night daw muna sila eh. Tapos Grab on the way here," pagpapaliwanag ni Jay.
"I think this is the first time in a long time na we got to drink with just us only again," sabi no Oli at napaisip naman ako.
"Really? Ever since February?" Gulat kong tanong and he nodded.
"Either we had Claire with us, hindi tayo kumpleto, or at a party," sabi niya pa at tumango naman ako.
"Wow. That is long," bulong ko and I took a shot.
"Okay, year review. Who's up first?" Tanong ni Jay and Ady raised his hand.
"I will rate this year 7/10. Acads wise, I aced it. Romantically, not really. But then again, I only had it December," sabi niya at natawanan naman kami.
"I'll go next." Sagot ni Oli at umayos ng upo. "I'll rate this year a 4/10. It has been tough. Academically and romantically. Family wise, wala namang nagbago. They're still distant. I still don't have anyone with my DNA who celebrates my birthday with me. I was drunk most days of the year. I wanted to be drunk the days that I'm not. This year sucked for me, but not that hard," sabi niya at sinandal ko naman ang ulo ko sa balikat niya and cheers-ed our glasses to let him know that I'm here.
"It was 8/10. Acads are meh. Family, meh. But I already made peace with it now. With basketball? Better than ever. MVP in every league baby!" Sagot naman ni Eli at hinahampas pa ang dibdib niya.
"I'll give it six. Goods sa acads pero lagapak kay Claire. I swear I try to overlook the things she said about Kenz, kasi sabi niya she's changing. But you know? I don't really feel good about it. I feel like I'm still pretending with her. I don't know how to move forward with her," sabi ni Jay and we nodded.
"I'll give this year a 3. 1 point for you guys, 1 point for Kai, 1 point for Kentaro. I am much more happier than I was last year, but I think it would take a lot more happy para lang malamangan yung pain na meron pa rin ako. A year ago, mas malala sitwasyon natin. Me and Jay were smoking 24/7. We were always drunk. I honestly didn't know how we didn't fail last school year. I guess we had a better year this year. Lahat tayo nag-increase ang rating," sabi ko at pinalakpakan namin ang isa't isa.
It's true. If you think we're miserable now, you should've seen us last year. We looked like we were beyond repair.
"Chug it out!" Sigaw ni Jay at inabutan kami tig-isa ng isang bote ng Alfonso.
We chugged until hindi na namin kayanin at nag-compare kung sino ay may pinakamalaking bawas.
At dahil competitive ako, ako ang pinakamalaki ang nabawas. Ako pa? Never yatang may nakatalo sa akin sa ganito.
"I love getting drunk with you guys," nakangiti kong sabi at lumagok na naman ng alak.
"Dahan-dahan ah. Baka di mo na abutin new year," pagpapaalala ni Oli at ngumiti ako sa kanya bago halikan ang pisngi niya.
"Thanks for being with me 365 out of 365 this year. I really appreciate you. I hope I am the same with you," nakangiti kong sabi sa kanya and he cheers-ed our bottles.
