chapter 15 "A DEEP PORTAL, TIME TRAVEL"

all text in italics is spoken in catalan/spanish

OLIVIA CABRERA was fine. she was completely and undescribably fine. at least that was what everyone around her saw. she was seen up and running just a week after the incident, that she never wanted to talk about, and loved her job back at FC Barcelona. one thing she wasn't okay with, however, was the fact that her roomie was currently hogging the entire upper floor with her mystery 'boyfriend'. suspicious activity, of course. mikky kiemeny told olivia everything. so for a boy to remain unspoken of between the two was quite a catastrophe.

what was she supposed to do? at first, she'd called pablo to confirm that no one from the team had mentioned anything about mikky. that didn't seem to work out either.

"WELL, BYE! yeah, thanks for coming. see you soon!" mikky let him out the front door, shutting it once she saw him seated in his toyota. a wide grin was plastered on her face, but soon replaced by a scream. "could you get any creepier? seriously, via. it's one guy."

"yeah, one guy that you haven't told me about. you tell me about everything,"

"yeah, everything. not everyone,"

"ouch." olivia faked hurt as she slapped a hand against her chest. did her words hurt? yes. but would that stop her from questioning the living ass out her friend? hell no.

OLIVIA FOLLOWED mikky upstairs and to her bedroom. her room was messy, which was definitely not a mikky thing. "gosh, what did you do in here?" she gestured to the rumpled bed covers and clothes hanging on the edges.

"nothing but the usual, you know."

"no, I don't know because someone has been keeping secrets from me!" olivia raised her voice towards the end, glaring at the dutchie before turning around to inspect a piece of cloth that hung by the edge of a shelf. "and what even is this? I swear I've seen this before,"

MIKKY quickly glanced up at snatched the red jacket from her hand. "oh nothing, just the team stuff. you'll get it soon. privilege shit you know?"

olivia couldn't help but examine the jacket more from a distance. something was off. very off. "you sure have been saying 'you know' a lot." she said judgementally, eyeing her friend's stance before meeting her eyes. she just couldn't help herself. why wouldn't mikky tell her anything? did she not trust her anymore? was it related to the incident? she couldn't help but wonder if it was different now. her secret was out, and everyone had to look at her pitifully, as if it was her fault she didn't like eating. mikky sighed before meeting her eyes and sitting on the bed.

"IT'S NOTHING to do with anything that happened at the hospital. I promise. you can trust me for that." she motioned for olivia to sit beside her. she watched as the brunette played with the bracelets on her wrist, charms from her friends on her first pandora. they all meant something to her, a mini inside joke or a little note to her. but in front of her real friends, material was nothing. maybe mikky was telling the truth, but all their problems were miniscule next to her real one. "you're thinking. what wrong via?" and somehow, mikky always knew something was up with her. it was almost like instinct, and the sheer fact that mikky could always tell almost shadowed all the barriers forming between the two girls. almost. olivia silently huffed before bringing her eyes up to look at her.

"nothing. nothing's wrong." she brought her lips into a thin line in a lousy attempt to smile, and got up from the bed. but even as she walked out of the room and into her own, a tinging feeling pinched at her heart. something was off, and she would make sure to found out. as long as she didn't hurt anyone.

"HOLA." pedri nodded at his teammates in the training area, heading over to the weights. "pablo!" he gestured for his friend to help him out. he picked a set of weights and then settled himself on the seat. today is a good day, be thought; at least that's what he expected. what he didn't expect was small talk.

"what happened with giada?" he grunted while holding the weights for his friend who suddenly seemed to struggle adjusting in his place. pedri threw him a deadly glare, and motioned for him to hand over the weights. "pedri, I swear I will drop these on your foot if you don't answer me," pablo threatened while holding the cast iron over his head, visibly loosening his grip.

"OKAY, OKAY. gosh. how do you even know about that?" pedri ran a hand over his face before taking the weights from his friend. pablo arched an eyebrow at him before resting his palms beneath his triceps. huffing as he did so, pedri decided to begin his story. "we met in the cafe. it was all fine. until she-" he let a soft grunt. "tried to kiss me."

"WHAT?" pablo dropped his hands and in a flash, pedri's arms fell limp by his sides, the iron falling with a loud yet muffled clang on the soft carpet.

"pablo! what the heck man?"

his friend cursed and sent him a finger. "you kissed her back?"

pedri tsked. "no, you idiot. I was going to tell you nothing happened but nevermind, you wanted to drop the weights on my feet and-" he shut his mouth at the sight of his friend's face, which remained not so neutral. pablo's eyes were settled just behind pedri, and in an instant, the canarian knew what had happened. yet for a very evident reason, he couldn't bring himself to turn around and face the brunette, someone he'd become accustomed to for a while now. and something told pedri that just by not doing such, he'd made this a whole lot worse.
