The scholarship results brought joy and excitement, and now it was time to prepare for the journey that would take Ayesha and Ameena to Korea. The days leading up to their departure were a whirlwind of activity. At the Mall
Ayesha and Ameena strolled through the bustling mall, their faces alight with excitement as they explored stores.
"What about this dress?" Ameena asked, holding up a pastel blue outfit.
"It's gorgeous! But don't forget to get something practical too," Ayesha teased, holding a pair of sneakers.
They laughed as they picked out clothes, makeup, and accessories, imagining the new life awaiting them. Each item they chose felt like a step closer to their dream.
Time skip
The day of departure finally arrived, bringing with it a mix of emotions.
At Ayesha's House
Ayesha's house was filled with both happiness and sadness. Her mother stood by the door, trying to keep her composure.
"Beta, apna khayal rakhna aur call karna mat bhoolna. Khane time pe khaana, aur Ameena ka bhi khayal rakhna," her mother said, her voice quivering.
(Take care, don't forget to call, eat on time, and take care of Ameena too.)Ayesha hugged her tightly, tears streaming down her face. "Ammi, main apna aur Ameena ka khayal rakhungi, magar tum bhi apna khayal rakhna."
(I'll take care of myself and Ameena, but you also take care of yourself.)She turned to her brother, who had his usual mischievous grin.
"Why are you all crying?" he asked, pulling a face. "We should be happy! Now there'll finally be peace in the house. I can eat anything without sharing!" He smacked his lips dramatically. "And the best part? No more fights for the remote. Ah, I can't wait-"
Ayesha interrupted with a teasing smile. "I know you're the happiest person today, but I'll miss you." Her voice cracked as she spoke.
Her brother looked away, pretending to adjust his bag. "Let's go. I can't wait to rule the house," he said, his voice thick with emotion.
As they got into the car, Ayesha glanced back at her home one last time, her heart heavy yet filled with hope.
At Ameena's House
At Ameena's house, the scene was no different. Hugs were exchanged, and emotions ran high.
"Have I packed everything? Let me check again," Ameena muttered, rummaging through her bag for the fifth time.
Her mother sighed, shaking her head. "Kya hoga is ladki ka?"
(What will this girl do?)Just then, Ayesha called. "Assalamu Alaikum," Ameena answered. "Yes, sweety... Okay, okay, I'm coming!"
"Is Ayesha here?" her mother asked.
"Yes," Ameena replied, a bittersweet smile on her face.
Her father, usually composed, had tears in his eyes. "I'll miss you, beta. Take care."
Her mother hugged her tightly one last time, reluctant to let go. Ameena waved goodbye with teary eyes, promising to stay in touch as she stepped into the car.
At the Airport
The two friends reunited at the airport, their excitement bubbling over. They checked in and boarded the plane, their hearts racing.
As the plane soared into the sky, Ameena turned to Ayesha, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Pinch me, Ayesha. I need to know this isn't a dream!"
Ayesha laughed and pinched her lightly. "It's real," she said.
"Ouch! Thoda dheere se karna tha!" Ameena exclaimed, rubbing her arm.
(Do it a little more gently!)They laughed, their nerves easing as the reality of their journey sank in.
When the plane landed, Ayesha and Ameena were overjoyed. In their excitement, they started walking away without their bags.
"Ma'am, your bags!" the air hostess called out.
Ayesha froze, her cheeks turning red. "Thank you," she mumbled, quickly grabbing her luggage.
Ameena couldn't stop giggling. "Great start, Ayesha."
They arrived at the college-provided hostel, their new home. The room was cozy, with two neatly made beds and a view of the city.
As they settled in, they called their families.
"Ammi, we've reached Korea!" Ayesha said, holding up her phone to show the room.
Her mother's face lit up with relief and pride. "Take care, beta. I'm so proud of you."
Ameena's family shared similar sentiments, their love and blessings crossing the miles.
That night, as they lay in their beds, Ayesha and Ameena couldn't stop smiling.
"Korea," Ameena whispered. "We're really here."
Ayesha nodded, her heart full. "This is just the beginning."
And with that, they drifted off to sleep, ready to embrace the adventures ahead.
