At College
The college campus was full of noise and laughter. Students were walking out of their classrooms, finally free after exams. Everyone looked happy and relaxed.
Umer stretched and let out a long sigh. "Hashh... finally, exams are over!!. Now I can sleep properly."
Ahmed gave him a teasing smile. "You say that like you weren't already sleeping every chance you got."
The boys laughed loudly, enjoying the moment.
But Chawoon's smile slowly faded when his eyes caught someone standing alone not far from them.
It was Ayesha.
She was standing quietly, her eyes on the ground, lost in thought. Something about her looked different
Chawoon quickly excused himself from the group and walked toward her.
"Ayeshaa!!" he called with a big smile, his dimples showing as he waved.
She turned her head when she heard him, but the moment she saw Chawoon, she quickly looked away. Her eyes filled with tears. She whispered softly to herself, "I have to do this... for us. It might hurt badly but the best option to be happy later."
She wiped her tears quickly, held her bag tightly, and ran off.
Chawoon's smile disappeared. He stared at the direction she ran, confused and worried.
"Why are you doing this to me, Ayesha?" he thought.
Suddenly, Ji-won jumped beside him, trying to scare him. "Boo!"
But Chawoon didn't react at all.
Ji-won looked surprised. "Hey, what's wrong?"
Chawoon spoke in a quiet voice. "Ayesha... she confessed her feelings. But something is bothering her."
He was about to say more when Ji-won's eyes grew wide. "Wait.....she confessed?!"
She suddenly shouted with excitement and started dancing around. "AHHH! My best friend got a confession from his beloved! My best friend~!"
Chawoon's face turned red. He raised his hand, trying to stop her. "Ji-won, please! I'm serious. Did you even hear what I said? Something's wrong after the confession."
Ji-won stopped dancing. "Oh... really?"
Chawoon nodded. "Yeah. She's been acting strange. Even during exams, she barely talked. I thought maybe she was just stressed, but today she didn't even look at me."His voice was full of worry.
Ji-won looked at him with concern now, all the excitement gone.
He looked down, his voice soft but full of emotion.
"I can't see her ignoring me," he continued. "I planned everything for her. The food, the place... all of it. I can't hide it anymore. I've made up my mind I need to tell her how much she means to me. But for that she has to come to the party......If I ask... what if she says no?"
He paused, glancing at her with hopeful eyes.
"But you and Ameena already know. You both can help me, Ji-won. She won't say no if you ask her. Please!"Ji-won gave him a playful nudge and smiled brightly.
"Of course she'll come! I'm your best friend, remember? And don't overthink it. She might just be a little shy.....She paused and continued with cheerfully "So, Ayesha's lover, should I help you with the preparations and the ring?" she teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck."I already have the ring. Don't worry...I've got my list of plans."
