Chapter 8

You stood open mouthed for a minute. You quickly shut your mouth, and tried to get to the glass as quick as you could. You eagerly sat down, excited to meet people. You'd been so lonely for so long. Friends still was a new word in your mouth, and you loved the sound of it. Ten eager eyes stared at you, waiting for you to say something, but you still didn't know what to say. As much as you talked with Hiro, you were awkward and didn't know how to start conversations. With Hiro it just came naturally- you two could talk for hours even if it was something you didn't have in common, and you loved and savoured every second you had with that boy. He was something you wanted to take hold of and never let go.

"Um, Hi." you murmured, still a little shy from the amount of people in the room.

The tall blonde- Honey Lemon, squealed. "You are so cute! Are you Hiro's girlfriend?" she cooed.

You both turned bright red. "I- I promise it's not like that." you sputtered. You hadn't once thought of it that way. You hadn't thought of Hiro that way either- at least you couldn't recall doing something like that. Even if you liked him that way, you were completely content just being with him. Having him as a friend was plenty.

You looked at Hiro, seeing his response as well, but he still was a bright red. "What she said." He agreed. You nodded.

"So could you guys introduce yourselves or something?" you asked.

The other girl there, who you already thought was cool, spoke up. "Gogo."

Another- A taller guy with a beanie and red hair, spoke up too. "I'm Fred, but call me Fredzilla. Are you like a test subject or something? That'd be cool! Are they keeping you captive for having super-powers or-"

Another guy cut him off, "I'm Wasabi, and sorry about Fred. He's a little" Wasabi paused for a minute.

"Weird."

"Hey, I won't deny that. But anyway do you have powers or anything like the Hulk or something because then you could join our-"

Wasabi put his hand over Fred's mouth, successfully shutting Fred up.

"Sorry about him. I hope that wasn't offensive or anything."

You shook your head. "Nah, he's cool."

You thought for a minute again. "So," you pointed at each person, "Gogo, Honey Lemon, Fred, Wasabi." you quizzed, hoping you got the names right.

They nodded. You almost laughed. "You've got some funky names huh?"

Fred gestured to himself. "Nope, they're all super cool nicknames made all by this guy."

You saw Wasabi roll his eyes at Fred. Something told you that Wasabi didn't like his nickname very much.

As you began to talk with Hiro's friends, you began to love them more and more. Each one had a different personality, and each personality was so different from the other, you couldn't help but love each one. Eventually, time passed, and it was time for them to go. As you bid them goodbye, you couldn't help but think how much better life had gotten since Hiro came in.
