Vampires were monstrous things, that's what Marinette had believed all her life; They were vicious creatures who spared no one, didn't offer mercy to nobody, devoid of empathy and humanity. She was born to a non-influential man, a simple baker and a woman who died during childbirth when she was born, causing the man who was suppose to protect her to reject her.

Marinette didn't doubt he tried, he was distant but he fed her, clothed her, gave her presents, but the emotional connection wasn't there. That was fine, even at the age of four Marinette wasn't going to bargain with a grown man to have a relationship with her.

That didn't matter though, because by the age of eight, Thomas Dupain had been slaughtered by these cruel members of the occult, and Marinette - being deemed too young, too small, too feeble to be fed on was carted off to a facility that was dingy, dark and damp.

She met other girls and boys of her age, all of them in a similar age - the older ones were always the quickest to go, the oldest member of the facility was always twelve at the age of twelve that's when they were able to be sold. Marinette could only imagine the price they went for, but Marinette had always been a calm child so when faced with the future of being bitten and sucked dry then so be, maybe in her next life god would be kinder and offer her a happy childhood, filled with love, pastries, but most importantly no vampires.

The four years spent at the facility were based on education for blood slaves weren't just there to give vampires an extra boost but also to offer vampires a helping hand be it with cleaning, writing letters, being a scribe, or any other domestic task that could be performed. They were also taught what foods to consume to ensure their blood was of high quality, they were taught what to eat when their blood had been consumed leaving them woozy - of course, this didn't matter because for all they knew the person that bought them may feast on them all in the one go, but the facility didn't like to take their chances.

So upon reaching the age of 12, hands shackled, and hair tied up giving whoever who may purchase her the ability to feed on her as soon as possible if they so please without the risk of hair getting in the way.

The front room of the facility was nothing compared to the backrooms, outside was the picture of stereotypical vampire elegance it was a dark room with candles that had spilled from being melted for too long, and the chairs and booths were red.

Marinette listened to the man list off all her attributes, how she was a top class scribe, her blood was O-Negative - she was treated like a commodity, and she detested it looking out upon the crowd of many, many, many blood sucking hellions a glare was etched permanently on her face.

A man decided to hire her, no, buy her - one Gabriel Agreste she eventually learned and he ruled over the servants within his house with an iron fist. Marinette was still unsure why he had even bothered to purchase her in the first place - he had three blood slaves as it was, they were all on rotation - and even in her seven years of service to him not once had he fed from her.

It seemed to be that Marinette, and Marinette alone was in charge of cleaning.
