You always envied her for how she managed to move forward and be strong. Compared to your sister Jo you didn't have the same strength as her. You have always been more fragile and sensitive, the trauma of the abandonment of both of you by your mother was certainly not an easy thing. But Jo could handle anything. Under that sweet and beautiful girl there was an unknown strength whose origin you would have loved to know. But she was always there for you whenever you needed her. She was the most important person in your life, you wouldn't have known what to do without her.

You had decided to follow the path of medicine with her. All you wanted was fixing whatever was broken in people, it was the only thing that you wanted for sure. But it wasn't easy at the beginning, the stress took its toll and you fell behind the others in the courses. Even sleeping was difficult. You often suffered from panic attacks, another thing that held you back but that you were learning to deal with. Some people stopped talking with you, the feeling of not being able to do it and not taking it was too strong tho. So between stress, nightmares and insecurities you closed yourself more. You started not going to work anymore and only going out when necessary. Without warning or saying anything to Jo. She had already sensed that there was something wrong with you despite the famous question "Are you okay?" your answer was always "Yeah, I'm fine" even though you were dying inside. So since she noticed your absent behavior she started keeping an eye on you. And when you disappeared she got even more worried. She came every day to see you and make sure how you were. You were grateful for every minute she dedicated to you.

That moment, when you were in tears, stammering those words "I... I don't know what is happening, I..." she looked at you. She didn't look at you with pain like the others. She didn't look at you as you appeared to others. She just looked at you as someone, someone who wasn't ignored. She tried to hide the sadness she felt for you, after all you were her little sister, and seeing you like that broke her. She hugged you, tightly holding you closer. "You are loved, you are strong, you can do it. You just have to show everyone who you are. There are so many people ready to love you" she whispered to you.

You've always struggled to believe in yourself and give yourself value, but perhaps for the first time you said to yourself "I can do it".

It took time, but you were improving. Jo was there every step of the way, she never left you or let you give up. After a while you started working and committing to yourself again. The satisfaction of seeing the positive in small things and smiling was a unique feeling.

You wouldn't have known what to do today without her. It was your strength, what allowed you to move forward. You would never have enough words to thank her, you were lucky to have a sister like her. Your only life partner.
