As much as he wanted to avoid it, there was no way he could just ignore the Duke. He tried to explain the situation without humiliating himself too much. But the more he explained, the more amused Wriothesley looked. He was clearly pleased that Neuvillette had managed to get lost in the Fortress.

"So, you're saying the great Iudex of Fontaine needs help?"

Neuvillette couldn't stop himself from sending Wriothesley a glare. Couldn't he just shut up and be serious for once?

"No, thank you. I do not need your help," he said, hoping that would be the end of it. But it wasn't, of course, it wasn't. Wriothesley wouldn't let him live it down, and Neuvillette was sure that if Wriothesley had been immortal, he would have taunted Neuvillette with it to eternity. He ended up following Wriothesley back to the administrative area, making sure to remember the way in case he ever had to go down here again, which he hoped he didn't. He didn't know where to go from here. There were no more leads, he had missed his chance, and Wriothesley clearly wasn't going to tell him anything.

"Monsieur Neuvillette?"

He looked at him. "Yes, Wriothesley?"

"Perhaps I could use your assistance regarding the assassination attempt.."

Who the hell did he think he was?

Had he not clearly said that he would not help Wriothesley if he asked?

He gave him an opportunity, and Wriothesley had said no.

But Neuvillette couldn't help but consider it. He didn't want to be a pushover, especially not for Wriothesley, but it was so tempting to say yes, to finally get some information, finally get a little closer to figuring this out.

"Did I not offer my help already? I clearly remember being shut down and telling you I wouldn't help even if you asked." He said back.

Neuvillette didn't know what to expect. Hopefully, Wriothesley would say something he could use, but to his surprise, Wriothesley dropped to his knees in front of him, looking up at him with pleading eyes and a smirk that completely ruined his expression.

"Please, Monsieur, I would appreciate your assistance."

The inmates stopped around and stared at the scene.

"Get up, Duke. You're making a fool of yourself."

"Will you help?"

"I will consider it if you get up."

Neuvillette watched as the other man slowly rose from his knees, standing up straight again. He couldn't help but notice Wriothesley was almost as tall as him.

"Well? Will you help?"

"Fine, but let's discuss this elsewhere."
