MATURE THEMES AHEAD

The Mandalorian and the Wolven entered the ruins of the Sanctuary, one of the most popular cantinas in Mos Espa. Or was. The entire place was ashen from the recent bombing, and the smell of smoke was still present. The Pyke syndicate did not care for sparing innocent lives.

The Daimyo and the master assassin looked shocked to see them so soon after leaving to recruit men to fight from Mos Pelgo, now known as Freetown. "That was fast. Were you able to hire any foot soldiers?" Fennec questioned, eager for good news.

Din nodded, walking down the steps at the entrance. "I think so. Cobb Vanth is raising a garrison for us."

"What price did you negotiate?" She questioned further, wanting to know how much funding they had left. Ruling a crime syndicate at war was timely and expensive.

"Free." Elodie said. She sat on the stairs, not caring about getting the overalls filthy. She hoped to get them drenched in blood soon enough. There was something burning inside of her. A deep, unsettled rage. The feeling had left her simmering and on edge since transforming back into a human. It was as if the longer she remained as a human, there was turmoil in her mind. She clutched her hands at the edges of the steps.

"Free?"

"He's been holding off the spice trade single-handedly. I told him we could shut it down." Fennec was displeased with what was promised. "That's not free. That's most of Jabba the Hutt's business."

He held his hands up in defence. "That's what the town wants." Elodie shared her two cents, "I don't think you are in a position to make demands. Accept the help."

"I agree to their terms." Boba agreed, nodding at the two. The Wolven was right, they were in no position to refuse help. "There's a lot of credits to be made from that orange powder." The assassin argued.

He tried to reason with her to make her understand. "In the long run, it is better for us as well. Mos Espa can become a prosperous city under our protection. Spice is killing our people. Let Marshal Vanth and the people of Mos Pelgo."

Din cut in. "Freetown is its name now."

"Let the people of Freetown know they have my word." Boba finalized. "You can tell Cobb Vanth himself when he arrives here with the reinforcements." The Mandalorian reassured, he knew that Cobb Vanth was a good man and would do well to stick to his word.

The Daimyo was nervous. He was relying on the extra foot soldiers to add to their numbers. "You are confident he will come?"

"I am." Din said, and Elodie nodded simultaneously. "Well, if he does not, we are doomed. Our skill is no match for the syndicate numbers. We must buy time until they arrive. We'll lock down at the palace."

"It's a bad idea." Skad interrupted, stepping from his silent position to the side. To be honest, Elodie didn't even realise that the man was even here; she was too busy lost in her thoughts. Looking around the old cantina, she saw that the rest of the team was gathered there too. Boba looked over at the Mod, "Is that so?"

"It is." He admitted. His partner came to stand by his side to back him up. Boba held out his hands. "And where do you propose we wait for reinforcements?"

Drash spoke up. "Here."

He scoffed. "Here? In these ruins? Nonsense. The palace offers greater protection." The cantina was exposed in the middle of the city. The palace held better fortifications made by the Hutts themselves. And if anyone did breach those walls, they would find themselves face-to-face with his new pet. Drash refused, growing irate at his dismissive attitude. "If you want to abandon Mos Espa and hide in your fortress, go ahead. We're staying. The people who live here need our protection."
