CASSIDY SAT ON THE COUCH OF HER BASEMENT utterly hopeless. She was trying to fix the bandage on her hand, trying to put on a new one, tighter this time and with a lot more tape. However, every time she brought it round, it would fall down, less than helpful. She huffed agitatedly, feeling her hands trying to tense, but she wouldn’t let them. She’d lost quite a bit of blood by doing that in the junkyard before, she was lucky she hadn’t passed out on the journey back.
When they’d gotten back to town, Mike had gone his separate way silently and Abigail offered to sleep over at Cassidy’s, but instead slept over at Dustin’s when she saw how pale the latina looked in the moonlight. When Cassidy had finally arrived at her house, it was completely silent, no snoring coming from the garage and no sound of the radio anywhere. Her dad wasn’t home. She didn’t know where he was, and, honestly, she couldn’t find it in herself to wonder why.
Now she sat on her couch, her anger filling her whole body. She couldn’t even tell where it was coming from, whether it was frustration from not being able to do her bandage, or the fact that Eleven had disappeared completely, or if what Lucas had said had stung her so much that she was still hurting from it. Either way, it seemed her feelings were stopping her from focusing enough to finish off her bandage.
