The Six Day War of 1967 ( also known as the Third Arab  - Israeli War ) was a conflict fought by Israel against Arab nations: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan and Iraq, along with minor involvement from Lebanon.

The war began on the 5th of June, 1967 when Israel invaded Egypt.

Casualties :

Arab Nations :
Egypt: 9,800 - 15,000 killed or missing, 4,338 captured
Syria: 1,000 - 2,500 killed, 367 - 591 captured
Jordan: 696 - 700 killed, 2,500 wounded, 533 captured
Lebanon: 1 aircraft lost

Israel : 776 - 983 killed, 4,517 wounded, 15 captured

On June 8, Egypt and Jordan agreed to a ceasefire, and so did Syria the next day. Israel signed it on June 11.

However, during this time Israel had seized Syria's Golan Heights, the Jordanian-annexed West Bank ( including East Jerusalem ), and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula as well as the Egyptian-occupied Gaza Strip. This led to around 280,000 to 325,000 Palestinians as well as 10,000 Syrians fleeing or being expelled from the West Bank and the Golan Heights.

Israel eventually won the war. Egypt closed the Suez Canal until 1975 which led to the 1970s energy crisis and 1973 oil crisis.
