A few weeks ago, the defeat of Monarch occurred, and Gabriel Agreste, who helped Ladybug with the defeat of Monarch, resulted in his death. The Kwamis have all returned to their original chosen holders, and Adrien Agreste returned to Paris with one less parental figure however, also with more family simultaneously. Amelie and Felix are returning with him to support him through school during this tragic time in his life. Losing two parents in three years can take a toll on anyone's mental health, and it is for the best his aunt and cousin join him in the mansion. Felix will be joining him in school during the fall semester.
Adrien walks through the heavy doors of the mansion that he hasn't seen in weeks and is greeted by a familiar face. "Good to see you made it back safely, Adrien." She tells him as he looks at her with wide eyes. It was Nathalie without a back brace; she no longer looked ill, as if she was miraculously cured of the mysterious disease that left her on her former deathbed. "Nathalie, you look so much better than when I last saw you." He responds as his aunt and cousin walk around him. Felix is almost more surprised than Adrien but walks off with his mother. "Before your father... he sent me to a hospital, and they treated me with their best abilities; they called it a miracle that I recovered."She said bluntly without facial expression to protect him from the cold truth. His eyes become glassy before blinking the tears away. "Now, let's discuss some more important things about you, Adrien." She demands sternly as she isn't aware how much longer she has to be in contact with him due to her boss suddenly passing away.
As Nathalie, Amelie, and Adrien discuss the legality of custody, Felix makes his way upstairs to Adrien's bedroom. Felix sits on Adrien's computer desk chair, and his Kwami, Duusu, emerges from his jacket. "Is he completely unaware of everything, Felix?" Duusu questioned Felix with a perplexed look on her face. He sighs and nods to his Kwami, "I don't believe I should be the one to tell him; I have more important things to discuss while I have time with him." He mutters under his breath to his Kwami. Unknowingly to the two, Plagg was present in the room, in a drawer filled with camembert. He was eavesdropping on the conversation, knowing better than to expose his holder's identity. Plagg continues to be skeptical of Felix's motives but trusts Ladybug's intuition on entrusting him with the Peacock miraculous.
The door opens slowly, "Hide Duusu, he can't know yet." Felix whispers as his Kwami hides. Adrien enters the room and looks at Felix with a disappointed expression. "Why are you in here? Are you trying to ruin my reputation again or something?" Adrien states bluntly, almost teasingly, but he is serious. Felix looks at him with a hurt look because *almost* everything he has done for his cousin was to help him. "No, Adrien, I was waiting for you to finish your important conversation to check on how you were holding up." He said he was half lying due to being hesitant to tell him the truth so soon after his father's passing. "Well, I'm fine, thanks, but I'd rather be alone right now, Felix," Adrien responds numbly to his cousin, pleading for him to leave him with his thoughts. Felix takes the hint and leaves without saying another word, knowing now is not the time.
Adrien lays on his bed staring at his ceiling, his mind racing. Where is Plagg? Is Marinette okay? IS Ladybug okay? Do they both hate him? All these thoughts eat away at him until he hears something rummaging in his desk drawer. He stares at it momentarily until he gets up to investigate. He opens the drawer the commotion is coming from and is greeted by a stinky black cat. "Plagg? How long have you been here?" Adrien asks mouth agape, reaching for his miraculous. Plagg looks up at him before floating up to eye level, "Uh, a few weeks?" He responded, shrugging his little black arms, "Where have you been, kid? I expected you would be back sooner." He said, blinking, forgetting that his father is also Monarch. Adrien frowns at his response as he puts his ring on his finger, "Stuck in London, you know the reason I couldn't help Ladybug defeat Monarch, which cost my father's life." He says, looking down at his open desk drawer before closing it. Plagg silently winces, unable to tell Adrien the truth, but plays it off as he forgets that significant event. "Kid, you probably had a long trip back here, especially dealing with Felix; maybe you should head to bed for the night." Adrien looks out his window, watching the night sky. "Is Ladybug alright, Plagg?" He asks, hoping to see her swinging by. Plagg floats beside him, "Yeah, Kid, she's alright."
