"What the fuck did George do to his hair?" Honey says with her scrunched at the sight of her friend's new look. Ever since his situation with Meredith, George had been acting... different.
"'It's called a nervous breakdown," Izzie whispered.
"Burke says he's got issues. You should see them, like, doing things. Running, cooking, talking. They're bonding."
"And you're afraid that Burke will realize he makes a better girlfriend than you?" Izzie asked.
"I guess he really is Burke's guy now," Honey laughed.
The woman remained silent and turned to Meredith, "You know Meredith just go and apologize to him."
"Why should she have to apologize?" Honey furrowed.
"I've tried!" She sighed, watching the brunette walk ahead beside Dr. Bailey.
"Try again," Izzie said simply. "Things can't stay like this. Things suck like this."
"They do." Honey nodded in agreement as the group continued to follow after their resident to their patient's room.
"Denny Duquette, aged 36-"
"37 in three weeks," Denny interjected, causing a wide, toothy grin to appear on Izzie's face as she presented.
"37 in three weeks," She added, gripping her clipboard. "Is having difficulty breathing and chest pains."
Dr. Burke, who was standing in the corner of the room with his arms folded over his chest, nodded his head, "Breath sounds?" He asked.
The Steven's woman let out a small sigh. "Still a little junky. He has a build-up of fluid in his system."
"Are you calling me a junky?" Denny joked.
Izzie continued to laugh at his remark, but behind her, her fellow interns all shared the same look.
Their attending cleared his throat. "Denny, your congestive heart failure is getting worse despite the meds."
"Alright. So how do we proceed?"
"Doctors, how do we proceed?" Dr. Burke echoed, glancing over at his interns.
"Titrate up his nitrate drip, then continue with diuretics," Honey answered.
"ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, and start dobutamine," Izzie added.
"Good." Burke nodded, looking back over at the patient, "I also want his ins and outs recorded and one of you monitoring him at all times."
"I'll stay," Izzie was quick to volunteer, sticking her hand up in the air.
"Me too." Alex volunteered as he pushed past the others to stand next to Izzie. Izzie and Denny look a little off-put.
