Honey and Cristina sat at the top of the bed while Meredith was at the bottom stretched out.

"What are your other symptoms?" Cristina asked as she and Honey were jotting down notes.

"Okay, there's the father thing...the mother thing, the sister thing...mmm, the dying and coming back to life thing."

"You have too many things," Honey told her.

"I can't sleep. I can't sleep without the dreaming."

"And the panic attacks," Cristina added.

"One. One panic attack."

"Okay, still."

"What's wrong with me?"

"As far as we can tell, severe abandonment issues," Honey said while reading the medical book.

"That's crap. Psych is crap. Issues?" Meredith told them.

"I mean, it's...it's in the book. The book said it, not me. Have you considered maybe you and Derek should...stop having breakup sex?" Cristina asked making Meredith look at her, "okay."

"The more available he gets...the more I pull away," Meredith admitted.

"What do you mean?" Honey asked.

"Nothing. It's a Derek thing."

The OR was quiet except for the rhythmic beeping of monitors and the soft shuffle of instruments being placed back onto the tray. Honey let out a steady breath as she finished closing up their patient, stepping back as the surgical assistant secured the final sutures.

"Nice work, kid," AJ said, pulling off his gloves with a snap. His voice carried that usual mix of praise and challenge like he was testing how much she'd let it go to her head.

Honey gave him a pointed look. "I'm not a kid."

AJ smirked. "You're my kid. You're the only reason I'm still tolerating this hospital."

Honey rolled her eyes but couldn't stop the grin that tugged at her lips. It had only been a few weeks since AJ started at Seattle Grace, but they had fallen into a rhythm. He challenged her, pushed her, and respected her in a way that made her want to keep proving herself.

The two of them stepped out of the OR, still in their surgical caps and scrubs, as they headed toward the scrub sinks. AJ was mid-sentence about how Honey's suturing technique was "getting there but still had room for greatness" when he suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Honey frowned. "What?"

AJ's eyes had locked onto a figure at the nurse's station—a woman in a crisp attending's coat, her blonde hair pulled into a tight ponytail, her expression sharp and unreadable.
