"When I grow up, I'm going to be a football player! And you can be the cheerleader!" Travis said as they jumped around the trampoline in Taylor's backyard. It was a cold Saturday afternoon in Nashville, and the two had been together for the better part of the day. Travis' mom had a bunch of errands to run, and of course, he opted out of wanting to go from place to place, so he asked if he could spend the day with Taylor and her family. Luckily, her parents were nice enough to let him come over and hang out. The adults tried to make Austin, Taylor's younger brother play with them, but of course, Austin complained about how the pair always left him out of the conversations and activities. They didn't do it on purpose, it was just the nature of the conversations never interested the younger boy.

"Why do I have to be a cheerleader? Why can't I be on the team too?" Taylor asked, landing on her feet and placing her hands on her hips. She was a sassy little thing, and all Travis could do was shake his head at her.

"Because you can't catch. But you're good at cheering people on." Taylor was always at his football games being the best hype man a little man could ask for. He always played better when she was there. He could always hear her screaming his name and saying when plays weren't fair.

"I guess that's true," Taylor replied, thinking about what he was saying. She wasn't the most coordinated person on the planet. She tripped over her own two feet a lot of the time and was super clumsy.

Travis did a backflip, landed on his feet, and then fell on his butt, before laying flat on the trampoline. "What do you want for your birthday?" Her birthday was coming up soon, and he wanted to get her something or get his mom to get her something. She had gotten him the coolest monster truck for his birthday, and he had to repay her in some kind of way.

Taylor laid down next to him. Her blue eyes looked into his light green ones. "Um," she thought. She had no idea what she really wanted. She had told her parents a million things, but what should Travis get her? She laughed. "A cat." She said.

"Ok. I'll make sure my mom gets you one." He said, with all the confidence in the world that he could make it happen.

"Which one do you think she will like, bud?" Travis asked his son as they looked at the cats in the little cages lining the pet store. It was Taylor's birthday and Travis was going to fulfill a promise he made when he was 10 years old. Just the thought of that conversation they had 25 years ago made him laugh. She had all the faith in the world in him being able to get that damn cat. Instead of a real cat, his mom had gotten her a toy one that she was able to play with. Taylor had always been a cat person, while Travis was more so a dog person.

"That one!" Shouted the three-year-old. He pointed to a cat that looked as if they were the smallest in the cage. It looked as if it was scared to move around given the chaos of all the other small cats in the cage with it. "Hi, Buddy." The child said to the kitten, trying to put his fingers into the cage to pet the cat. "I think Tay Tay will like you." He said. Travis couldn't do anything but smile at his little boy. They had always been around Taylor in his 3 short years of life, but now that Taylor and Travis were dating, and Taylor basically lived with them, he could see his son slowly picking up on Taylor's speech patterns and phrases. Some of her mannerisms were slowly becoming present in the little one as well.

"That's a perfect pick," Travis told his 3-year-old. Travis flagged down an employee. The rest of the time at the pet store went by smoothly. They were able to get everything their new kitty would need, and they were on their way back to the house. They had left Taylor at home to get a bit of peace and relaxation. The rest of the day would be filled with them doing things that she wanted to do. Even though, now, with a new cat in the house, Travis wasn't so sure she was going to want to do anything but sit with the cat.
