"You could have just taken us to the police station, Trav," Taylor told him with a little bit of a sigh. She didn't want to go inside to face his family. She was already embarrassed enough that she was seeing him. She hadn't seen or spoken to him since high school. They shared a few classes and spoke on a couple of occasions, but for the most part, they lived two different lives in those high school hallways. He was one of the star players on the football team, with a future so bright that people thought it was just a dream. He was accepted into a college on the other side of the country from their hometown, and everyone knew he would do well It was in his DNA to do well. While he was on the football field, she was focused on her studies. Taking every English class she could. She loved reading, and she loved writing. It was what she was the most passionate about. Analyzing the works of men and women from centuries ago may have deemed her as a nerd, but she couldn't care less about the thoughts of her peers. She liked what she liked, and that's all that mattered to her. Her likes and his likes were so far off that her having a crush on him all through high school was just a fantasy in her mind; what would he want with her? A girl whose head was always stuck in a book? She admired him from afar and kept up with his career as he moved through life.

"Taylor, you don't have on clothes. I was not taking you to the police station in a tank top and pajama pants, with no shoes or socks," he said, turning off his SUV and stepping out. He opened the back door to where she was sitting. "Give me the baby, and I'll come back to get you. Let me get you some shoes," he told her, reaching for the little girl in her arms.

"No, it's fine. I walked twenty minutes in the snow barefoot, I can make it into the house barefoot," she replied.

"Taylor..." Travis said, starting to take the baby from her arms. "Stay here." Shockingly, Taylor watched Aurora go with Travis without questioning. As he was starting to close the door to keep the heat in the car, she stopped him, hopping out of the car quickly. "Taylor..."

"Travis..." she said back. He let out a sigh and just walked to the front door of the home.

"What's your name, sweetheart?" He asked the little girl he was carrying.

"Aurora Mae Alwyn," Aurora answered with confidence. Taylor couldn't help but smile at her daughter. At least nothing broke her spirits. Travis knocked on the door of the home and waited. Taylor wrapped her arms around herself, trying to preserve what little heat her body was maintaining. It felt like an hour to her, but it had only been a couple of seconds before the door of the home opened. The person opening the door was a face she was familiar with.

"Who's this little cute...." Kylie said upon seeing Travis carrying a child. Her eyes went from Travis, the little girl, and the woman that was behind him. "Taylor?" Kylie said, raising an eyebrow as she looked at her.

"K...Kylie?" Taylor stuttered.

"Girl, get in here. Where are your shoes?!" Kylie asked, grabbing Taylor's arm and pulling her inside. Travis stepped in after with Aurora still in her arms.

"Ms. Kylie!" Aurora yelled once she was in the light and saw Kylie's face more clearly.

"Hey, baby girl! Why don't you have shoes on?" Kylie asked the little one as she closed the door. Her eyes went back to Taylor. "Oh my God," Kylie's jaw dropped seeing her. She looked her up and down; her fingertips, toes, and lips all were a pale shade of blue. "DONNA!!!! COME QUICK."

"Matty made us get out, and Mommy could only get my jacket!" Aurora told Kylie.

"You two know each other?" Travis asked, raising an eyebrow as the three of them interacted. He put Aurora down, and she immediately went over to Taylor, clinging to her leg.
