Taylor's eyes flickered open, blinded by the light of the living room. The house was silent, which confused her. With a newborn, twin 6-year-olds, and a 15-year-old, nothing around the house was ever silent. There was usually always yelling happening or someone was crying. She picked up her phone, seeing that it was a little after 5 PM. She jumped up from the couch, where she had fallen asleep, and looked to the baby's swing, not seeing her baby girl in her swing where she had put her hours ago before she fell asleep.
"Trav?" Taylor called out, walking up the stairs. "Vannah?" She called out to her 15-year-old daughter. She walked into the office, hoping to see Travis and the baby, but only found an empty room. She walked into her daughter's room, finding it also empty. "Where is everybody?" She asked herself as she checked the twin's rooms and the little one's nursery, again finding the rooms empty. When she got to her bedroom door, she heard subtle noises from behind the door, but nothing extremely loud. She opened the door to find all four of her kids piled into her bed. the newborn in her oldest arms, one of the twins shaking up a bottle, most likely to feed the baby, and the other twin watching a show on either Netflix or some other streaming app that they paid for monthly.
"Hey, Mommy, did you have a good nap?" Alexander, Alex for short, asked, taking his attention from his show when the bedroom door opened. Taylor walked in, taking in the sight of her babies.
"I did, thank you for asking." She walked into her bedroom, closing the door behind her. She took a seat on her bed, which was covered in baby things, toys, and electronics. Abigail finished shaking the baby's bottle and handed it to her older sister, who placed it into the newborn's mouth, and the newborn started to drink it hungrily.
"Where's dad?" Taylor asked Savannah.
"He texted about an hour ago saying that practice was going to run late today," the teenager replied, picking up her cell phone. Holding the baby's bottle in her mouth with her chin, Savannah opened the text from her father and showed it to her mother.
Taylor took the phone from the girl, looked at the text messages between her and her father, and just laughed, noticing a few other texts between the two of them. Savannah was a daddy's girl through and through. Their relationship was the cutest thing, and Taylor enjoyed watching it. "Did you guys eat?"
"Daddy told me to DoorDash something, but I haven't done it yet because Char started crying."
"Why didn't you wake me?" Taylor asked, navigating through the teenager's phone to the DoorDash app.
"Because you were tired, Mommy. Duh!" Abigail, Abi for short, told her mother with all the attitude her little six-year-old body could muster. Taylor couldn't help but laugh at her sassy little one. Abigail wanted to be her big sister so badly. The six-year-old mimicked all of her older sister's behaviors, phrases, and mannerisms. If Savannah did it, Abigail wanted to do it too. Luck for both her and Travis; Savannah was a pretty good role model for her younger siblings. She wasn't a bad girl, and she normally did exactly what she was told when she was told. She was kind of like Taylor; she feared getting in trouble.
"Thank you for reminding me of that fact, Love Bug." Taylor laughed. "What do you guys want to eat?" She asked the three of them but received shrugs from the twins and a tilted head response from the teenager. "Pizza? Burgers? Tacos? Noodles?" Taylor asked, scrolling through the app.
"Pizza!" Alex shouted.
"You always want pizza," Abi complained, folding her arms across her chest. "Mommy, I want noodles!"
"Let's find a place where we can get both; how about that?" Taylor said, looking for a local restaurant that had a variety of options. Once she found one, she was able to get pizza for Alex and Mac and Cheese for Abi. "What do you want, Van?" she asked her oldest, who pulled the bottle from the newborn's lips and dabbed the little one's mouth clean.
"What place is it?" Savannah asked, placing the burp cloth on her shoulder and propping Charlotte up to burp her. It was heartwarming to watch her oldest take such control of her youngest, knowing exactly what to do. She never asked Savannah to help out with her younger siblings, but she always did so on her own. She loved the way her children loved each other and were always willing to help out.
"Garden of Eat'n," Taylor replied.
"Is that the place with the really good Alfredo?" Savannah asked, and Taylor responded with a nod as she added things to the cart for herself and Travis. "Chicken and Broccoli with Angel Hair pasta." Taylor searched for what her daughter wanted and added it to the cart. She looked over the order and then submitted it.
"Have you had everybody hostage in here the whole time I've been asleep?" Taylor asked, moving some of the toys from Travis usual sleeping spot.
"I wouldn't say hostage, but we have all been in here a while, just watching stuff." Savannah admitted.
"Well, thank you for letting me sleep," Taylor told her teenager. When she got hold of her phone again, she made a mental note to add some money to her bank account. She handed Savannah back her phone as she made herself comfortable on Travis' side of the bed since Savannah was occupying her side with the baby.
"You're welcome," Savannah told her mother. Once Charlotte was burped and content, Savannah laid the little one down on a blanket she had laid out for her.
"Look at my whole family in one place," Travis said coming into the bedroom. Noone heard him come into the house, but he certainly made his presence known once he was in the room.
"Daddy!" Abigail basically screamed, jumping off the bed and running to her father.
"Hey, baby girl!" He said, kissing her on her cheek once he had her picked up and in his arms.
"Can we practice our dance now?" She asked, referring to the dance she had to do with him for her winter dance recital.
"After Daddy takes a shower, okay?" he asked the overzealous 6-year-old. She was so excited to get to dance with her dad in front of all of her friends on stage. It was the first time that it was going to happen, and Taylor couldn't wait to record every second of it and post it on Instagram for all of their fans to see.
"Okay," Abigail answered. He put her down after giving her one more kiss on the cheek. He walked over to the bed, uncovering part of Taylor's face. "Hey, beautiful."
"Hey." Travis leaned down and kissed her quickly.
"How was practice?" She asked, reaching up to stroke his beard. He leaned into her again, giving her yet another kiss.
"Good," he answered. "I thought Van said you were sleeping on the couch."
"I was, but I came up here when I noticed it was after 5. Savannah held down the fort while you were gone and I was asleep."
"That's my girl," Travis said with a smile. He leaned across the bed and kissed the top of Savannah's head. "What's for dinner?" he asked, knowing he had told Savannah to order DoorDash for everyone.
"Mom ordered the pasta place. What's it called?"
"Garden of Eat'n," Taylor answered.
"Sounds great," Travis said, ruffling the hair on his son's head. What's up, bud?"
"Hey," Alex answered, not taking his eyes off of the Ninja Turtle's movie he was watching. Travis could do nothing but shake his head. He gathered some clothes from his drawers and headed into the bathroom for his shower.
