The Pools Of Sorrow

As a rule; the majority of the known races often stayed in their respective regions of space. Although at peace; co mingling was often frowned upon. Pure specimens of humans were rare- yet; they were the only foolhardy race to try and colonize planets without the aid or protection of other races. A suspicious xenophobic species was how they manifested in this galaxy.

So as The Terminus folded space- they were all a little shocked when the planet Drakis Superior appeared on their screens. "The Nirashti? Wow you guys are really at the bottom of the bucket of allies." Leviathan shook his head. "The kid knows someone here." Cred hinted, as the bridge stirred in tension.

"Adara." He guessed instantly. Unmoved, Zephyr gathered her team and engaged her helmet without a second word.

If there was anything Leviathan knew; he was well versed in the anger that he may have set in motion. Her icy silver eyed stare; was what he saw last.

They marched off leaving the only Laquin high-breed on the bridge. A moment passed as he realized he had no orders. He wasn't a high enough rank to do anything on this vessel as he hadn't been assigned to any roster. He effectively was required to go to the nearest empty sleeping bunk and remain in standby for any encounter.

He really hated doing nothing. As thirty seconds or more passed his arms began to drop in despair. He knew a Version of Mia- was now watching him. He sighed- feeling judged by her. He lowered his head.

A communications channel opened in his mind; "Aren't you Coming commander?" She asked. And he ran towards the docked Enigma. Mia quietly encouraged him to join and offer a spot to spot transport.

The Nirashti made their home worlds on toxic radioactive planets. This aided them in keeping everyone away. Few could survive the conditions that these planets offered. Few thrived in these conditions. It was commonly assumed 'if a race wants to survive the hard way; and they make it look easy.  Grant this race a wide berth and do not bother them.'

It was for the first time in nearly a thousand years; a Nevick vessel appeared in their sector of space. Rather than being intercepted and destroyed; nothing happened.

"There is no spacecraft activity in this area." Mia stated as The Enigma cycled its landing struts. Finding a hill crest, it rested its struts into the dark black sands. The blood red hills and cliffs sprawled in every direction. The ground scorched black; crumbled into fine ash as the full weight was applied to the surface.

Black trees with white leaf like foliage blew in the hot wind. As they tried to scan for life, they realized they wouldn't know what a Nirashti life signal would look like. Their scans would literally learn by the second.

On planets like these; abundant radiation often boosted the strength of their atomic manipulation ability's. Atomas at one point had multiple radioactive planets. Up until the Nirashti demonstrated they wanted them more than the Atomas. While they were a reptile like race; they cared only for themselves.

Often hunting parties were formed and they would raid Atoma planets. Often using their captives to power their core of their vessels. Biological integration of atom-benders was expressively forbidden. While it was forbidden; Aboard Nirashti vessels It was said at faster than light speeds on such starships, you could hear a faint painful scream. As the evidence of these events was now being accessed by Mia.  Apparently she had some success with accessing their mainframe. It did slow their steps as they discovered, 'Atomas that were used in such manner; rarely survived.'

The plateau that was their landing pad; was down the dusty gravel road from a large spire. It was these spires that they used as their homes, or roosts. It was well known that Nirashti were not only reptile like, but the larger they got; the more they resembled Dragons.
